So my elective section is booked for Wednesday due to my baby being footling breech and I'm so so scared. I don't know what's wrong with me, I'm I have delivered 4 times naturally so I can handle pain but I'm so afraid of the procedure.
I'm scared of them putting the spinal block in my back. Does it hurt? I'm also scared of the recovery, am I going to be in really bad pain after?

Arrrgh I'm freaking out

hey its not so bad honestly ive had three of em a hand on heart i barely felt the spinal goin in after that you wont feel a thing and you wont see wats going on either plus its pretty quick like ten minutes to get the baby out so you wont have that much time to lay there panicking about what they are doing lol and once the baby is here you wont care about anything else afterward your still be numb for a few hours once that wears off you wont be in alot of pain but the first time you stand up its horrible but each time you get up it lessons and within a day or two your be fine you wont even need paracetamol or at least i didnt so dont worry your be fine and good luck! xx

Thanks hun that's very reassuring xxx

I had an ELCS on the 5th and honestly I was terrified but it went smoothly :)

The spinal didn't hurt at all, they spray your back with a cold numbing spray first.

I'm not going to lie the first couple of days after are tough, more emotionally than physically for me, but I'm on day 12 now and I'm able to walk around and stuff, I'm still taking paracetamol here and there but I'm not desperate for it or anything. I would say take the pain meds and take it slow, it's so frustrating but it's getting easier day by day, you will be okay, I was :flow:

Thanks Hun so glad to hear the spinal didn't hurt as that's my biggest fear xx

My elcs is on Wednesday too! Had natural with first so this is brand new to me too...I'm nervous too but all the reassuring posts here have been great.

Good luck to you!

Myn is on friday and very scared I have been in this form nearly every day looking at everything haha hope all goes well for you hun xx

I had mine on Oct 31st and I was really scared. It was my first section.

The spinal didnt hurt at all, the local they gave me before hurt just as much as the one in my hand for the cannula.
The theatre staff were very reassuring before, during and after surgery and I met them all before hand so I knew their faces when they came into theatre.

Recovery hasnt been too bad at all and I've been able to do the nursery run since day 7. I've managed to do everything needed for baby. The only things I'm not doing is lifting my (nearly) 4yr old and the pram.

Make sure you keep on top of your meds and take it easy, I maybe up and about but I'm still getting as much rest as possible.

Hope it all goes well on Wednesday. x

When I get the time I'm gonna write a birth story all about my experience and what happened as I was exactly the same, googled everything and browsed all the threads.

I had a C-section on tuesday my second but I was put to sleep the first time.... It wasnt bad at alll... I didnt feel anything Im not even taking pain meds any more....the best advise is to get up as soon as your not numb anymore... That is what I did and i got out of the hospital thursday even though I could have left wednesday night i was fine.
!

Honestly the worst part about the whole thing was the fear. No part of the c-section actually hurts. A few hours later when I was getting the feeling back, I felt stinging but if I didn't move, nothing hurt.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all you ladies that took the time to reply, you really helped me get a grip on my anxiety so huge thanks and :hugs:

Good luck. I hope it goes well. My baby is also footling breech but I am hoping she will turn and she has plenty of time to do so. The idea of a section freaks me too as I have three other wee ones to care for. To be honest, the idea of the actual cutting is worse for me, I would love to hear how you get on. Good luck

i have mine thursday and i cant wait to meet my little man xx

Good Luck! I had a C-section due to my sone being breech (was frank breech at the time of my last ultrasound, but at some point turned to footling). I had a vaginal delivery with my first, so the idea of a c-section terrified me. But honestly it wasn't bad. It was very quick and not painful at all. It was really a better birth experience for me , because my first got stuck and was delivered using forceps. Recover was easier with the c-section too. As long as you take the pain meds initially and get up and walk, you should start feeling OK after a few days.

I ave had 2 but was asleep. Afterwards is fine just takes some getting used to. I am gong for a third when I eventually eat pregnant. You will all be fine xx

Just wanted to say I am sure you will be fine.

Having had 5 c section and now pregnant with my 6th little one I can honestly say you don't feel any pain during the c section. Some pain and discomfort afterwards but when you have a beautiful little person to show for it, it's not all that bad.

Just try to relax and take it easy as the fear is usually the worst part of it.

Good luck, hope all goes well :)

I loved my section, actually enjoyed every bit of it, honestly! You will be fine, promise xx
