Hi, I have a question about elective c-section, if you can help?

with my ds I had a 3rd/4th degree tear which went up the side, I had to go to surgery after and apparently the surgeon did a good job, however I still have a few issues with it feeling uncomfortable sometimes.
After having my ds it was quite a scary time and had to be taken down to theatre and sign lots of forms to say I may become incontenant.

I am under the consultant this time and have my appoitment today, I am just wondering about asking for a section this time. I feel quite anxious about it but mainly because I dont want to experience that again.

Dont know how to approach it with the consultant, as I know they will push for natural birth.

How did it go? Didn't see this yesterday but would've replied saying that a previous traumatic delivery/tear is a valid reason for an elective c-section.
They probably would try and lean you towards a natural birth as it doesn't mean it's going to happen again, but if it's what you want and you stick to your guns, then it is a valid reason :-)

thanks for getting back to me. I realised after I had put it on the wrong forum!

They have given me the choice of section or vaginal birth, he did his best to put me off a section, I expalined my reasons and concerns.
He was very patronising, I was in a room with 2 young doctors both very good medically however lacking when it came to understanding.

I have spoken to my partner we have weighed up the pros and cons and I am going to have a section. Following the surgery which wasnt too bad I have been left with a few side effects from the birth and feel it is the best option. I dont have to let them know until my 32 week consultants appointment.

If you have concerns hun regarding natural birth, then I'd stick to my guns and ask for a c section as you do have valid reasons and they can't refuse, I go to my consultation on Wednesday and he wants answer from me but ive still not made up my mind yet my first was induced at 38 weeks long labour with fail to dilate properly lead to emergency c section, due to me being under consultant care again due to health issues diabeties and now OC and high BMI im swaying more to opt for a c section as I really don't want to end up having an emergency c section again from being induced, as baby got really distressed last time and everything was so rushed and scary, I was really hoping for vaginal birth as ive never experienced it and this is our last baby, but with all my healthy problems thinking c section is best option, will see what consultant says, good luck at your next appointments hun xx

Thanks for your reply :-)
Im really in two kinds as both have pros/cons think because im finding it difficult to decide im going to go for vaginal birth but make sure I get proper support from the midwives and not have them leave me to my own devices which is why I ended up tearing first time round. As this is my second but OH first baby I want to make sure Im not denying him the whole birthing experience if that makes sense.

Im sorry they pressured you :( I have no experience with sections but ive heard many times that a bad tear is a valid reason for a section. Stick to your guns, your birth - your choice. <3

It looks like it maybe a section as when I was last at the mw baby is breech, so I need to speak to the consultant when Im next there. If she stays breech I should have choice of section of ECV I have anterior placenta too which I gave heard can be tricky if having an ECV, so looks like baby has made my mind up for a section x

I'm having a c-section on Friday (next week) due to a terrible labour last time. I've had lots of operations in the past but for some reason I'm rather scared this time round. I think its because I will be awake for it plus the aftermath with having a 2 year old to look after also.

It's the needle in the back and the pulling and tugging feeling I'm nervous about!

Am I being daft?
