Embarrassing Teenage Bodies

I totally agree with you (alice&bump) about what you were saying with realising that the body change may be normal...

But with all these celebrity mums with waistlines like a 5 year old a month after giving birth I think women find it very very hard to realise that yes this may be normal!

i had a boob job just before my 19th birthday last september. and it was the best thing i had ever done!!
I would go back to have surgery anytime if there was something i was unhappy about and that was out of my control about changing to how i wanted it to be.
I think that that girl was completly right in having her tummy done! because you could clearly see if was affecting her.

and to anyone who says the way your body turns out after having a baby is obviously one of those people who came out with nothing apart from a slight saggyness!! because if anyone had to go through the way her stomach was they would understand how she was feeling.

Do you not think that at 16, your body still has time to mature? i know i didnt get huge boobs til i was about 18 (by huge, i mean a DD). plus once you have bubba your boobs will probs be bigger anyway. i know things like that can really get you down, but i always think there's other ways and time really can change your body when you're so young.

when i saw the girl that had the tummy tuck, i thought she looked just like what i expect to look like postpartum. and i dont think the baby was that old either was he/she??

No not atall. If you or any other girl looked the way I did then it would of needed surgercly fixing. I had no breast tissue atall and wasnt going to develp any anytime soon. The surgeon wouldnt of done it if he didnt think it was nessesary.
I didnt plan on getting pregnant so I wouldnt even use that 'instead' of surgery!:S
Well I have to say you really do not understand then. And its hard for people like you to unless your in the situation yourself.

I thought it was a normal postpartum belly too, but then the woman said that it was bad, which made me think twice. To me it just felt like she was just giving it to her, i think surgery should only be offered in extreme cases, like if it is causing severe depression and no self esteem over it. Ok that girl wasn't happy, but her baby was a few months old wasn't he/she? It seems to me she didn't bother trying to fix it, she just hated it and that was that. I think surgery should be the last scenerio.

Boob reductions/enlargments are different though, although IMO at 16 boobs still have time to grow so i wouldn't offer surgery till past 18, i can imagine how unhappy i would be if i was flat chested, and if i was i would definately opt for surgery too. But with parts on your body that you can work on yourself, surgery should definately be a last resort.

i realised after i said that that it came out wrong, sorry! just meant that if you were to have babies at some point in the future they'd grow. obv i dont know your particular circumstances, so cant judge, but i just think that 16 is so young to be changing your body x

What's the name of the program? I'm going to try to find it on the internet since over here in Canada I swear I have not seen anything on TV about teen pregnancy, in fact only rarely is anything in the newspaper (and it's always an article with a negative undertone..) which is crazy because where I live I think A LOT of teenagers get pregnant..

whereas you guys get TV shows and such all the time! I'm jealous :(

I want to watch it to. I dont think its showing in the US either.

Ouchies you are a brave woman :D
Did you get much scarring? My mum has the same problem, but she has now decided against a boob job. I want mine reduced xxx

Hi hun,

With loose skin and abdominal diastasis like that girl had, there was literally nothing she could do to fix it - you can't tone up the loose skin because there is no muscle there, and the muscles when separated like that sag and can't be toned. It is sad but all she could do was loose weight, and even then she would still have a tummy very much like that because it wasn't an issue of fat. Unfortunately some women do get bodies like that after pregnancy and there is nothing they can do about it except for either accepting it, or having plastic surgery.

If your body is really getting you down (depression) and you are certain that you cannot live with it or change it, and you are prepared to undergo a very serious operation then a tummy tuck would seem to be the answer...

But believe it or not this is normal for some women and it is possible to grow to 'accept' or even love your new body and men DO still find women attractive after they have had babies.

My mum is a great example; My dad died when I was young, and my mum (Despite having very badly torn muscles, sagging skin and very thick, deep stretch marks) had quite a few partners while we were growing up - she didn't throw this in our face, I only know this looking back in hindsight with a grown up understanding - and she now has settled with her partner and they have 2 beautiful babies (a 2 y/o little boy and a 6 month old little girl) and they are both very happy (understatement).

Life does go on after having children. Your tummy is not everything. Remember, you can love your tummy HOWEVER it looks, and a toned flat tummy is NOTHING compared to a young, confident and sexy woman IN ALL. Confidence is sexiness, girls!

I totally agree with her having surgery, you could tell her body was getting her down and making her miserable. My moms belly is the same as hers and she says that she really wishes she had of had surgery after she had me because it's got her down for years.

Hiya

I have to agree with you here, I was an AA cup until last year when I was about 18 1/2 years old and suddenly went up to a B/C cup and they are still growing!!

I can't believe that any decent surgeon would operate on any woman at the age of 16. There should be an age on getting surgery like that of 21, as then you will have completely finished growing and it will probably save a lot of people a lot of money!!

I know how you feel when you have small boobs, mine were non-existent but they would have grown naturally unless genetics in your family mean that chances are that you won't grow as much as you want.

It's not natural to have breast implants, they aren't part of you and from what I have been told they don't feel natural to guys. Someone once told me that if it's really cold the implants freeze!!! Tell me how that is natural!

I'm not sure what the situation is regarding breast feeding and implants but I'm guessing you can't? Therefore your child will be missing out on what is natural for him/her because of something unnatural.

People shouldn't use surgery as a way to fix things, it should be the ultimate last resort.

Sorry if that's a bit too much opinion but that's just what I believe, not saying that what you did is wrong, just voicing my opinion. I do that a lot :)

good luck with motherhood though :)
