I'm thinking that this will be our number one contender for a name for LO2, although not making any solid decisions until the big day.

It seems Emmeline is more popular, but I actually really like how Emeline looks. It's quite feminine, but not overly frilly. Seem to be in the minority with that opinion though! I also want Beatrix as a middle name, and I have to admit I think Emmeline Beatrix looks a little more 'complete' together.

We will have 'Emmy' for short if this is the name we choose.

I vote or Emmeline, just because the Emmeline I know has her name spelt that way so that seems like the "proper" spelling to me, although I don't know if that's correct! I love the name Emmeline and adore the nn Emmy.

Emeline is the old spelling, whilst Emmeline is the evolved version and is far more widely used.

Prefer the look of Emeline, but I think nickname Emmy makes more sense with Emmaline...

I would go for Emeline only if you're planning to pronounce it with a long "a" sound at the beginning. If you're saying em-meh-leene, like Emily, then I'd go with the two m spelling. Lovely name!

I prefer Emeline. Lovely name!

Like "ay-meh-leen?" Hmm, hadn't seen it like that! It's definitely the Emily sound that I'm going for.

I think I'm drawn to the Emeline spelling because I'm quite keen on Amelie, Emilie, Emilia, etc.

Emmeline can also be pronounced em-a-line, rather than leen. It's a tricky one. I love the name and considered it for Alice, or as a middle name for her, but it's too much of a mouthful with our surname- but the pronounciation was a big one for me.

Yeah, I'm worrying it will be too much of a headache for her! It's a lovely name, but complicated hah.

I've always pronounced it Em-eh-line! But my grandmother's name was Adeline with the "line" sound at the end so I think that's what I'm used to -line names being pronounced as.

I prefer Emmeline regardless. :)

I wouldn't worry about how its a mouthful. My name is Emmalou and people seem to manage.
