Hi there,

I hope you dont mind me popping over but i need some advice.

Ive just been told theres very strong chance i have Endometriosis. I know what Endo is but thats it! ... Ive been told i will have a Laparoscopy to have a look and 'get rid' of anything they find, i just dont know what to expect.

We were hoping to try for a baby this year but i think thats out the window now

Has anyone else been through this? how did it go for you? did they give you advice for TTC? I have so many questions running through my head i just end up upset!

Thank you for your time ladies!

Hey Claire

This must be a worrying time hun. In fact I know it is. I have endo. stage three and was diagnosed in 2005 and have just had op number four to treat it and remove some cysts.

But hey I am almost the worst case side of the endo spectrum so please dont let this scare you.

As for trying this year I have just had a huge op and saw consultant yesterday and already he is like have sex have sex tonight...apparently just after a lap is the optimum time so dont let that put you off.

My advice is to have the lap and let them excise anything they find, They will do this with protecting your fertility in mind and then can you should just go for it.

On a good note, I know other woman worse than me who have got pregnant naturally right after surgery and have had more babies since. It feels like the end of the world but I do believe that it will happen for me eventually and you too.

If you want to chat away from the board PM me.

Take care and if you need any other information you know where to find me.

Bumb x

..I'm one step ahead...I actually know that I have an endometrioma...it less than 3 cm and hasn't changed in size for over an year...but we've been ttc for 2 years now (just under) with endo and male factor... I'll see the specialist in December to discuss lap and lazer as an option....I so don't want to do it....
good luck hun

Hi Claire. I've just noticed that you are in Nottingham - me too!! I'm being treated at QMC and they also suspect endo with me, so I have a lap scheduled for next Tuesday.

The appointment came really quickly - we only had our first meeting with our specialist on 12 Oct so its all happened in just a month which is really good I think.

Good news is my mum had two lap operations (although she didn't have endo in the end) and both times fell pregnant within 3 months - my understanding is that if they don't find anything major and can treat some of the endo there and then it can actually increase your chances for the following months by up to 75%. I have all my fingers crossed that they don't find anything too scary with me next week....

Don't worry too much yet before you have had the lap - it might not be endo and if it is, it might only be mild. I hope you get the appointment quickly so that you don't have to worry for too long.

xx

They do say your best chance to fall pregnant if you do have endo is straight after an op and your window s 6 months. Just because you have endo doesnt mean you cant TTC Naturally. I know of many girls who have and are pregnant.

Claire- you said they suspect you have endo, it because of your symptoms or a cyst?

Thanks for getting back to me ladies!!

Dilek- They think it is as i have many of the symptoms and i have cysts. Im hoping when they do the lap, they get rid of most of it.
BabyChristie - Im with the city hospital - im not keen on the QMC (the ultrasound lady hurt me ...Lol :) ) One of my friends has just been to QMC for a second lap and shes in next month! Hopefully the city is like that so i get sorted. Hope all goes well!!

Brumbar & Bumber - I hope all goes well with you both! Thank you for your reply, just havent had much info on anything really + a little nervous!!

Hi Claire,

I had Stage 2 endo completely removed a year ago and then got pregnant naturally 7 months after surgery.

I can't imagine having sex too close to the op - ouch!!!!

Good luck with everything!

I have endo and have had 2 laps. I hear that the best time is right after, but the first one I wasn't in any position to have a baby and the second they didn't find any, so I went through some other tests and now am on Clomid. I was told both times to abstain for 3-5 days, but I ended up bleeding for a few days after anyways, so that was no big deal. I would encourage you to try after the surgery. It really isn't a big deal, though I healed a lot faster at 24 then at 30. Hope you get your answers soon.

I'm sorry to hear that you might have endo. I have had it my entire life. I have a mild case of it, but it is interfering with trying to have a baby. I had a lap last november, and I am getting ready to have another in a week. One thing about endo is that it will probably be with you forever, but there are some things that can help. One good thing is that a lot of people with endo end up having children!

I have been trying for almost two years, but I have just started with fertility stuff. The lap should help diagnose you, and hopefully you have a good enough doctor to do it right the first time. A lot of people conceive a baby just a few months after having the surgery. It will all depend on what your doctor says after your surgery.

Good Luck! Stay positive! Keep me in the loop

Hi Claire,

I can't imagine having sex too close to the op - ouch!!!!

Good luck with everything!

I agree! I had Hystocopy, Polyopscopy and LAP (sorry about spelling!) in August. I used to walk around 6 - 7 miles a day and only 2 weeks ago could i manage it! It's taken a long time to feel normal without walking pains.

We tried baby dancing 4 weeks after the op and had to stop. I have a really high pain threshold to I think my pain is an exception to the rule!

The best bit is waking up after the op... that funny light headedness! I wish I was like it all the time - my OH said it's the cutest I've ever been!

I went private to get it done so I'm not sure if this happens on the NHS but I have photos of my endometriosis, womb, fibroids, polyp - everything, it's fascinating.

hi i had it last night, had to stay in overnight. i had a lap, HSG ( where they put dye in) and a Hysterocopy ( up thru the vagina) .i dint not know i was having the last two, so i was a bit shocked.

i had a general and they gave me morphine as well. was a bit naseaus last night but slept most of the evening..

today my stomach is a but sore and im beginning to get pain in my shoulder - which is normal. its not very painful. it come and goes so they are going to give me pain killers

but please dont be worried - easy to say i know.
i was surprised to be told i had endometriosis and may not be able to concieve naturally...im very surprsied as always had regular periods - albeit light- im 38 dont know if that has anything to do with it. i do not have any syptoms !

is there anything in specific you want to know? i guess i will fiind out more today when the doc comes to see me and also how im feeling.

p.s i went private...dont know if that is relevant or not
good luck xx

if u want any more info pm me..
