I have endometriosis! In fact, ALL the women on my mom's side do! In all honesty, all of them but a couple ended up having a hysterectomy down the line. Sooo I have it hereditarily. Periods are always murder, I can't eat or sleep half the time because it hurts so bad the first few days. Endo can cause fertility problems if it's bad enough. BUT good news- all the women in my family that had endo also had kids! My grandmother had 4! BUT- they also had their kids in their early- to mid-20s. I don't know if that's a factor or not- I really think it's just based on how bad you have it.
If you don't know what the condition is, I'll explain as best I can:
When you have a period, your uterus sluffs off its inner lining, and passes it with the blood. This tissue is called the endometrial tissue. What happens in endometriosis is that tissue grows outside the uterus (not sure WHY). So you have uterine tissue that grows on the outside of the uterus, on your ovaries, and sometimes it grows on other nearby organs. An example would be that my mother had tissue growing on her pancreas (?). The pain during your period is because when you have a period, that endometrial (uterine) tissue contracts (cramps). So when that tissue is outside the uterus and contracting, it's contracting whatever organ it's attached to. In my mother's case, she would throw up every period and not be able to eat because it was contracting her pancreas (sp?).
There are treatments to make it better, although you can't get rid of the condition. There is a treatment called balloon therapy which I believe is the most common and least invasive (haven't looked much into treatment myself). Anyway, the point is, all the women in my family had kids, and even I am pregnant with my second now. It can definately cause problems, but shouldn't mean you CAN'T. Good luck hun, I hope that made sense!
