my mum always does turkey stuffing yorkshoure (sp?) pudding, roast potatoes, gravy and apple sauce, im looking to see if im missing something traditional!

Well, i think it depends because obviously there's stuff that people don't like

But, at my mums, she has: Yorkshire Puddings (home-made), Stuffing, Sprouts (), Meat (Turkey), Roast Spuds, New Spuds, Pigs in Blankets (Sausages wrapped in Bacon) Peas, Carrots and Cabbage i think. Not forgetting the Gravy :D

As for Sauces, we only have Apple Sauce on ours :)

Cranberry sauce is the sauce you have with turkey usually......

Same as us but we have leeks in with the cauli cheese :D

We have turkey of course, roast potatoes, potato croquettes, 3 diff kinds of stuffing LOL, sprouts, red cabbage, maple roast parnsips, carrots, sausages wrapped in bacon, yorkshire puddings, cranberry sauce and gravy :)

For starters we have prawn cocktail, pate on toast or soup and for pudding we have christmas pudding and custard/cream, trifle or gateau :D

then a cheese board and after eights  We eat a lot.

We don't always have turkey, so the sauce depends on what meat we have:
turkey - cranberry sauce
lamb - mint sauce
pork - apple sauce
beef - horseradish sauce (and yorkshire puddings with beef of course :happydance:)

For vegetables, we usually have:
roast potatoes
roast carrots
roast parnsips
roast sweet potatoes / butternut squash / swede
sprouts
cabbage
cauliflower cheese / watercress cheese

Other things:
sausagemeat stuffing
bread sauce
bacon and apricot rolls
sausages
gravy

Everything has to be homemade from scratch as bought just doesn't taste as good! Last year my favourite part was the stuffing, everyone loved it and said they could eat a plate full of just stuffing!

we have:
turkey
gammon
stuffing
roast potatoes
pigs in blankets
peas
parsnips
sprouts
cranberry sauce
whatever other veg is handy
yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!

We have:

Turkey (Sometimes Duck too)
Sprouts
Roast Potatoes
Roast Parsnips
Stuffing
Bread Sauce
Cranberry Sauce
Gravy

I think that's it  Though there might be carrots too, I don't like em cooked though!

Then we have tons of puddings afterwards - Christmas pud, cake, mince pies and M&S Mulled Wine!! I am SO looking forward to going home for Christmas!!

x

When to comes to xmas dinner I think it's just a bigger sunday lunch with a few extra special bits.

So we usually have turkey, ham, and pork etc, choice of sauces depending on meats, yummy yorshire puds, gravy, we don't like pigs in blackets so we wrap stuffing balls in bacon, and my MIL makes kilo's and kilo's of home made sausage meat stuffing and dishes it out, a selection of veg, normally honey roast, like carrots, parsnips, onions leaks. And then a few more bits of veg that everyone likes.

Then we just carve meat up on a platter and put all veg etc on serving plates and eveyone helps thereselves. And then we normally have homemade triffle and pouring creme or chocolate gateaux mmmmmmm....

Oh i'm getting all excited now, it will be the 1st year I will making my parents and 2 siblings xmas dinner and I've got a lot to live up to :D

Sauce made with fresh breadcrumbs, onions, cloves, peppercorns, milk and butter. Yummy! My mum always makes bucketfuls of it. Delicious in cold turkey sandwiches too.
