Mmmmm brussell sprouts are yummy! DH isn't keen on them so he cooks them then fries them with diced pancetta and a spot of maple syrup

omg this thread is making me seriously hungry, im drooling now, lol, i cant wait for xmas dinner

I LOVE Christmas dinner. I've been cooking for our families for last few years now.

We always have soup to start- carrot often as ist is easiest!

Then turkey and beef/pork
roast potatoes
mash
sprouts
carrots
cabbage
turnip
honey roasted parsnips
sage and onion stuffing
sausage meat stuffing
gravy
cranberry sauce

then 2 puddings- Christmas pudding and usually something chocolatey.

Then we have a Christmas tea of party food. Everyone moans that they can't eat anymore, but yet there is never any left!

OMG, I have just realised that is a ridiculous amount of food! Mind you, going to do the same again this year!!!!!

For starter we have prawn cocktail and veggie soup

Main is: turkey, cooked ham, beef, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, croquettes, sausage stuffing, pigs in blankets, broccolli, carrots, cauliflower, beef gravy and turkey gravy :)

And dessert: banoffee pie, yule log and a pavlova

Then later we have a buffet tea at my grans. God we're fat pigs.

Best part of xmas dinner is SPROUTS!!! I love love love em!!! Only time i'll ever eat parsnips too cos they're a staple part of xmas dinner and I like to save them for that one time of the year, i really really enjoy them more. Swede and carrot is essential for xmas dinner as far as i'm concerned and peas just go without saying. I can only ever manage one yorks pud and 2 large roasties, don't like stuffing and however much I like em i limit myself to just two pigs in blanket because i like a tonne of meat!! Never bother with a starter but never miss out on xmas pud, even though i don't like it that much  It's just a prerequisite to xmas for me, like new pjs and slippers on christmas eve and getting an orange in my stocking. Boxing day is always turkey sandwiches for lunch and then a buffet in the evening (a much smaller one when it's just hubby and me of course). And then on new years eve for the last few years we've had steak, chips and beer whilst watching Jools Hollands Hootenanny. I'm sooo excited now just thinking about it :happydance::happydance:

we always have turkey, brussel sprouts with roast chestnuts, gravy, ham, roasties, mash, cranberry sauce, stuffing, cocktail sausages. prawn cocktail for starter too!

p.s. a great tip for making really REALLY moist turkey is to shove a load of butter under the skin! i do this every sunday with the chicken, so when it cooks the butter runs into the meat and you would not believe how juicy and moist it ends up!!!

We always have pate on toast for starter. Then for the main we have turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, peas, sprouts, sage and onion stuffing, sausagemeat stuffing, cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Then we have either christmas pudding, chocolate pudding or yule log for pudding. With lots of wine usually lol.
