enlarged uterus, irregular cycles

I need some reassurance from people who have experience with this if possible

I finally went to the doctor about my irregular cycles, he poked me around a bit and said my ovaries feel normal, but my uterus feels enlarged and "bulky"... I've been referred to a gynaecologist but its gonna take a while and I'm worried as to what could be causing it

Quick overview of my "irregular cycles", I bled for 7 months straight before being given a 10 day course of provera tablets, my first cycle after that was 22 days long with a 5 day bleed, cycle after that was 17 days long with 7 day bleed, after that was 11 days long with 5 days bleeding... My most recent one began on 2nd March and I bled from then until the 18th... so definitely not normal :s

Just hoping that someone had this and it turned out to be something minor/easily treatable! Thankyou

The most common cause of an enlarged uterus is fibroids. These are benign growths either in the uterus or on the outer wall of the uterus. Fibroids can cause irregular bleeding.

You can do a search on fibroids or myomata or leiomyomata...these are all different terms for the same thing.

Not sure this helps- and could be totally something different, but my friend has the same thing- larger uterus and fibroids. Just something she has- never really affected her much, other than long/irregular periods (but the IUD did help with that mostly).

Sorry no better insight- most likely all is fine though hun. Hugs.

Thankyou do you know if it affected her fertility at all? Sorry if that's a bit personal but its one of my major concerns
