Has anyone hear gone through a vaginal delivery without having to have an episiotomy or tearing?

The word episiotomy seriously makes me woozy because I don't want one but I don't want to rip either I know i won't feel it especially when I have an epidural but the aftermath is what's freaking me out.

I want to be able to enjoy time with my baby not be sore and hurt!

I was petrified of having an episotomy or tearing too.

I ended up tearing after pushing for 20 odd minutes, it was a 2nd degree tear & I didn't feel it at all and I didn't have an epidural! I was asked to have it stitched but requested for it not to be done (though they kept pushing I flat out refused.)

It hurt for about the first week, but after 3 days I could sit comfortably again, just remember to do your pelvic floors too, once you start doing them you will feel so much better (especially when going to the toilet for the first time after!).

Now I'm completely healed and feel great! You will be fine. x

I had an episiotomy, as Charlie was bigger than expected, and had quite a big head (takes after his dad :haha:) they numbed it & I didn't feel a thing when they did it. I had stitches afterwards, but i'm completely healed now without any problems. it was sore for the first few days but nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be x

I didn't have an episotomy, and had a vaginal delivery. I did tear very slightly, but not enough to actually need stitches. I was terrified of the tearing, and even more scared of having stitches. I did however get an infection in the tear that didn't get stitched, but it was bareable :) I just went to the doctors and they gave me some antibiotics, which soon cleared it up.

Try not to worry too much about tearing and things like that. What will be will be :) You will barely feel it when you are actually giving birth, and afterwards you are so wrapped up and busy with your LO that you'll cope with any discomfort, before you know it you'll be all healed up.

xoxox

I had a tear and stitches and honestly it didn't hurt. After a few days it felt quite tight but that's a sign it's healing. Two salt baths a day really helped.

I had a vaginal delivery and didn't need to be cut and I didn't tear.. I got off with 2 grazes.. I had a water birth which I really believe helped with the whole not tearing thing as prolonged periods in water help to soften you're perineum.:flower: HTH

I heard that massaging olive oil on it will help is that true? does anyone know anything that can help prevent it?

I had an episiotomy and didnt even know until my 6 week check! lol xx

I didnt tear at all and refused an episiotomy. They kept pushing and pushing for one finally they asked if i could squat turns out i was pushing the top of his head on the crown area, he came out (placenta and all) in 5 pushes.

I know to many woman to have gotten episiotomys and torn up there rear end... little to say most of them feel discomfort for years after when taking a BM.

Do not get me wrong if shes in distress and they have to get her out i will get one but if she is fine in there i wont. They push hard for them in hospitals cause they want your birth to go fast, I wont let them push me around and ive made my wishes very clear to my doctor.

btw my son was 9lb, 21.4" long and his head was 35 cms. I didnt have a single tear didnt need any stitching.

Wow my birth was the same as yours to a degree... i was pushing the front of her head out rather than the crown, the surgeon did an internal manouvre with both hands tore me (3rd/4th degree tear) the episi then forceps all on G&A BUT LO was only 6lb 6.5oz 19 inches long and 32cm head circumfrence!! She was teeny .. just shows having a big baby aint so bad! I will also say my birth was very rare i should have been sectioned but all theaters were unfortunatley full and the only bit i found unbarably painful was her shoving her hands up! The forceps i didnt even feel? G&A is lovely stuff :D xxx

Awh I hate that they rush births, Its suppose to be a natural thing, I think it defiantly helped that my doctor didnt arrive til 5 minutes before He was born, so i had a midwife that was working the hospital, and she didnt have any say on what they did since i wasn't her patient, so she allowed me to make my own choices. I also think it helped how many times i almost had him out cause it kind of stretched me a little making it a little easier.

Big babies really arent that bad, the way i see it if he was nine lbs I shouldnt have a problem with this baby, Since i highly doubt she will be that big her daddy was only 6.5lbs. and i was only 7.11" I also had my son with no meds but laughing gas, so im kind of fearless when it comes to labor lol.

When I was born I was 10 pounds haha I was a big baby!!! But I'm just hoping that baby either has a small head or I have a stretchy vagina hahaha

Have you got a weight scan? I thought my son would be like 8lbs, Its really not how big your baby is its how big their heads are.

nah a month ago she was almost 3lbs and my next scan will be at 36 weeks so I really don't know how much she weighs right now.

I'm sure she wont be to big, My son was 7lbs 11oz at my 36 weeks scan. So he grew alot in 4 weeks.

But its all about head size, if she has a 40cm head that when you have to worry

I had a 2nd degree tear and had stiches but it honestly didnt hurt! Even afterwards I didnt notice any pain. If they didnt tell me I wouldnt have known at all...

xx

I didn't tear with any of my daughters , they were 6 p 7 0z and 7 p , 7oz.

I think the most important thing to help you prevent a tear is to listen to ur midwife when they tell u not to push or when they tell you to 'pant' instead, incredibly hard not too push when ur told this but it's worth it in most cases.

Oh and supposedly massaging ur perinium area in pregnancy is meant to prevent tearing.I didn't do this but have been told by lots of women and midwives that it's beneficial to prevent tearing.

I tried the massaging thing and it just feels plain weird!
