Well its been an eventful 2 weeks. My 3 yr old son wasn't keeping well and gave it to Erin, mainly a bad cough, snotty etc Anyway she was really unwell so after a trip to the docs i decided to take her to the children's ward. When there they tested her for rsv and it came back positive. Her o2 sats were low so she went on oxygen. This lasted a few days so they gave her a chest x-ray which showed her lungs are small (knew this from before birth - due to low fluid then know fluid after waters broke at 6 months). The respiratory paed decided that as she had poor weight gain and low o2 sats to test her for cystic fibrosis, thankfully it came back negative but that was some day of waiting! They think that her lungs have high presure and thats what opened her pda. She has to go to yorkhill next week for a c t scan under general anesthetic and if shows high presure will either mean medication (which is viagra believe it or not) or o2 at night or when she is poorly to keep her sats up! They think her lungs working hard will have made it difficult to gain weight so yet another chapter. Anyway she's home just now on a monitor at night (back to buzzers and alarms) and is bright and happy. Keep you all posted and would love to hear from anyone who knows about any of this!

Aww poor baby she's had a rough time by the sounds of it :(
Glad she's home and doing much better though.

oh poor little pickle!

Glad she is home and feeling a bit better and hope you manage some sleep with the monitors (i dont miss them) xxx

They gave samantha the meds in the hospital to shut down her pda because it was starting to cause her problems at 2 weeks old. Her pda is now open just a teensy itsy bit the drs said so the meds did a good job. they are leaving ot now to shut on its own. If it opens back up then they can do a second round of meds. If all else fails she in for surgery but sofar so good. They give her regular chest ultrasound to check it. Also i was told if its not shut down by a year old they go in with a cathedar and shut it down which is the best and most inevasive way to do it.

Happy your LO is home and happy and doing well! xoxox :hugs:
