I am not usre which is technically corrent but I prefer the pronunciation "Es-mee".

I really really wanted this name for a girl too but DH said no. We've just found out we're having a boy though so guess it doesn't matter lol !

I know someone with an Esmee and we pronounce her name Es-meeee lol.

But i also know someone else who was considering the name for thier child and pronounced it Em-May.

I think i prefer it pronounced Es-may

I think if you put the Accent on the top of the last E it makes it May instead of Mee so its up to you really!

It also means 'Hope' which i think is very cute!

Agree with tinkerbell - if you spell it Esme (with an accent on the last e) it's Es-may, if its just Esme then it's Es-mee.

OH and I love this name but I am slightly put off by the fact we will constantly be correcting the pronounciation and spelling! That's one of the reason's we chose our son's name (Ethan) because there can be no confusion!

I would pronounce it Es-May (character from Twilight books! ) but I used to pronounce it Es-Mee until I saw the movies that pronounced it the other way. So you may get both. But what matters is how YOU would want to pronounce it.
