I wanted to start my birth story, may have to edit later as LO is fussy right now so may not be finished.

Induction began Friday 12/30 at 40+6 with prostaglandin gel. I was 1 cm after it and getting contractions 2-6 minutes apart but not painful. They never turned into anything more and I was in early labor until LO came. I went back at 41+3 for u/s to check fluid levels and they were 3.5 (normal is 5-20) so they had to induce me. They told me I could not have the birth center birth I wanted so she let us go to lunch and then head to labor and delivery at hospital to begin induction. They gave me the option of gel again or cervidil and since the gel gave me an allergic reaction I opted for the pill instead. The first dose gave me more frequent non-painful contractions but cervix was still only 1-2 cm after four hours. So they gave me a second dose, and within 45 minutes I was having stronger contractions that got worse and worse. That dose was at 830 (first was 3 30pm). By 12 30 am I was walking around and on birth ball trying to get through contractions. They were coming one on top of another with no break lasting about 1 minute each. I got in the bath when it got unbearable and lasted until about 1 30 am before giving in and asking what pain relief other than epidural they had. They offered me a shot, I don't remember what it was, and said it would take the edge off, it did NOTHING! At about 2 am I gave in and asked for epidural so they gave it at 2 30 when I was 4-5 cm. And it did NOTHING, he kept asking if my feet were tingling, or if contractions felt shorter or less painful and they didn't. So they gave me a second one and it finally gave me some relief, could still feel contractions but they weren't so bad. They kept saying I should rest while I can but it was too painful. I kept asking to up the dose so she checked to see if I was ready to push saying that could be why it wasn't working, and sure enough I was ready. She gave me an extra 20 minutes when we woke OH up and then started pushing around 4 45. Pushing wasn't too bad, LO's heart reate started dropping so they made me stop for 10 minutes to move into different positions and then I could push again. Everly arrived at 5 05 am after a very short active labor, and started crying right away so they didn't cut the cord and take her to suction (as she had meconium) and let me have skin to skin while the cord stopped pulsing. Then OH got to cut the cord and mw checked me out, no tears just two small marks which she said would heal fine on their own. MW said because the epidural didn't work it made me able to push to avoid tears. I have had issues with pain meds not working before so I should have expected it may not have worked. She was 8 lb 8 ounces and 20 inches long born on January 4th, and though I did not get the birth center water birth I wanted, I am so glad just to have her here now. We stayed in hospital that night and went home the next morning when she was 2 days old, she has been nursing and doing very well.

Congrats! Thank you for sharing. Her name is very lovely.
