Hi ladies, not a very glamorous post but I was wondering is any of you have any advice for excess facial hair. I've been tcc for 4 years now. I've had excess facial hair coming on for the past 3/4 years (since stopping the pill) I pluck away every day and apart from the scar and red marks the whole ordeal is really getting me down. Everyone around me is so kind 'cause they don't mention it to me so as not to embarrass me but they must see the mess of my skin and the ability to grow a bloody beard if I set my mind to it! Any axperience or advice would be sooo appreciated. Bad enough I've got month after month of disappointment to feel less feminine is just so frustrating. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks and :dust:

Have you been checked for PCOS? Excess hair growth is a HUGE symptom.

You could try laser treatment, bleaching it, waxing it. There are several options that won't leave you face sore.

(My Aunt has the same issue, only, she enjoys the hairy chin and tash. Weird. Lol.)

Good luck. X

Ok so there's so much help, advise and support for ttc and pcos but I guess not for symptoms of pcos that loads of us endure? :(

Laser hair removal all the way!! I used to have to pluck my chin every day and was really self conscious about it. After 5 treatments it's almost totally gone. I paid for a big chunk of mine with Tesco points so it only cost me just over £100 and it is the best money I've spent.

Definitely sounds like pcos. I have the same problem as you and love how you said you could grow a beard if you put your mind to it. haha! The best I've heard is laser, but I haven't attempted it yet because I'm trying to get my hormones in order first... and save up for laser that will actually work. So I just pluck away every morning and evening. Yep, it sucks!

Thank you so much. The biggest help is feeling that you're not alone. The best support is in a reply. X

As already mentioned by others, excess hair is a symptom of pcos. Have you spoke to your doctor about it? They may be able to offer help and advise about it, particularly if it is getting you down.

Yeah. I do have pcos but blood work revealed hormone levels are quite good. I'm ovulating and af is regular as clockwork. The advise, hints and tips are so helpful. X

Hiya,

I have pcos, i suffer from excessive hair growth, I reccomend laser 100% I had all the spots, stubble, black ingrown hairs and laser was the only think that sorted it out and sorted my confidence out, good luck xxx

Hi, I have PCOS also Do recommend lazer but in between the Dr gave me a cream think its called VANIQA 11.5% so it stops any extra growing and things the hairs out you already have it does dry your skin out though. i will try anything it's worth a shot and i hope you get it sorted. It can get you down xx

I am also thinking PCOS, but there is something better than laser I think.
I would definately recommend Low GI Diet for PCO. The diet works wonders for many women by helping them get rid of BOTH facial hair, over weight and infertility.
All the best wishes from Amber

Hi, thanks again for the advice and support. It's better to get it from real people rather than a website. The journey continues. X

I had the same thing. Of course my docs thought PCOS, but I had regular periods and ovulated every month. Turned out I just had a hormonal imbalance. I had high DHEA and that caused my Testosterone to be high. This is also a precursor for Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which I was also tested for. Especially if your periods are regular you will want to be tested for CAH. Dexamethasone lowered my hormones and finally helped me get pregnant after 4 years, so there is hope! After pregnancy, birth control can help with the facial hair growth. Hope you can get referred to an Endocrinologist hun, they know their stuff!

* I also had 3 laser treatments and the last one burned me and left a dime sized scar on my chin, which they told me after was fairly common. Wish they had told me that beforehand- It can be risky!

I have PCOS and have excess hair on my neck- I use Jolen and it does the trick. Its its particularly long, I trim them with scissors  I feel like such a man.

I also ovulate fine, but can be irregular and I have high testosterone. x

Aww thanks for advice, congrats on becoming mrs. X
