I often see people post the name Casper on here and ask for opinions. Casper seems like a name people love, yet are hesitant to use due to the "Friendly Ghost" association.

Today I came across the name -- Caspian -- and wanted to share it here!

I think it's so lovely!! Caspian/Kaspian is such a great name - one I've personally never heard!!

I researched it a little and found some great associations:

The Caspian Sea - strong, fierce, powerful
Prince Caspian from The Chronicles of Narnia

It's unique, without being weird... and is a "real" name... with history.

And for those that like Casper, this could always be used as a nickname... or Cash could be a nickname, which is pretty cool!!!

I don't think I would use it -- but I do love it! Thoughts?

Not a fan but it seems those type of names are more popular in US than the UK so might fit in a bit more over there.

The name is not used in the US. I actually went back to government lists for the past 110 years and it's never even made the top 1000. I just thought ppl may like it bc it has aspects that I've seen as popular trends on baby name sites: historic credibility; not a made-up name; a place name; nature inspired name; cool nickname options. Plus, it seems a lot of ppl like the name Casper - so it's a similar alternative.

No I mean those types of sounding names are common in america not the name itself.

I've heard it used a few times here. I like it. Prefer Casper though.

Agreed, I don't care for it either

Well this name is unique, I never heard about this one. I think you spent a lot of time looking for it, great job!

I'm in the UK and never heard it used in real life, but don't think it would be out of place here! (I imagine it would be the name of one of Prince William or Prince Harrys chums!!)

I think it's a great name. Unique but not too 'out there'. As a bit of a book nerd, I love the connections with The Chronicles of Narnia as well. Definitely great name associations. In fact, if I'd have thought of it before we'd decided on our boys name, I reckon I'd consider it myself! Might mention it to OH.

If you love it....go for it :)

I like it a lot, I still prefer Casper but I might be more likely to get OH on board with Caspian and I loved the Narnia books as a child too.

I like it and it's not common, here or the UK TBH. I picked both my children's names so there will not be 20 in their class.....my DD name is popular in the UK but not here in the US.

Caspian is nice, not a fan of Casper since I grew up watching the cartoon :)
