Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has ever used a cat net on a moses basket and found them to be a success or not? Obviously I intend to watch baby when cats are around but don't want to take any risks and would feel better if I knew that there was added protection to stop the cats jumping in the moses basket when they are indoors.

Re-homing my cats is NOT an option so please don't suggest this :)

Thanks x

A way that worked for us was having the basket out ready a month before baby was due and cover it in tin foil. Cats hate the stuff. They didn't go near it. Once baby was born cats still don't go near it incase they found some I guess.

I brought a net for ours but didn't need it, the cats weren't the slightest bit interested. They were petrified of our baby and wouldn't go anywhere near his stuff for a good few weeks and even then they only wanted his car seat

i have a cat and he was not the slightest bit interested, he just kept him self to himself. He would only ever lie on my daughters things when she was not around. Cats tend to be quite scared of babies but obviously everyone is different, do whatever you feel comfortable with x

Must admit I'm slightly worried 're this. My two girls love anything to jump into, onto. They ; or sleeping with us - one just likes to be near us the other physically likes contact.

They love boxes, anything to climb into or has our smell, such as.clothes on the floor.

If I lock them.out of the room they claw at the door and rip th carpets up ..... I blame myself entirely - at 14yrs old they are too old to learn and know anything different.
Worried that they will.jump.in the basket and smother the baby when it is sleeping etc.....

I. Hopi g the theory that a screaming baby with new smells puts them off and if we do we manage the scare them into not jumping in there - but I know the temptation will be too much for them!!!

I have a pair of house cats that I was worried about before I had my LO as they love boxes beds and cozy corners. I got the basket out early and put some balloons in it that I had from my baby shower. When lo was born the balloons hung from the wall or went in basket when she wasn't in it. Both cats hate balloons so never went near the basket.

Also I did have a net that a friend gave me but never had to bother with it.

This gave me hope that the cats would naturally avoid too much contact wit the baby in my house...then I remembered that my guys attacked the vacuum cleaner when I used it the first time. And they attack the dog regularly. I think I may still need that net :D

Ours loved the Moses basket. We didn't use a net but we stopped the cats being in the same room so had to put up with scratched carpets etc. I'd rather have a scratched carpet than a cat smothering the baby. We keep them downstairs in the kitchen over night and they are used to this now.

I've never once found our indoor cat in my boys cots/bassinets when they were little. She was scared of them lol we had a mozzie net over DS2 bassinet and cot cause it looked cute lol but she never tried to get in :)

Never used ours, cats didn't like baby and tbh baby was never out of our sight

When we had Rowan, our cat was interested in him, and would lay next to him when he was on the bed, on a blanket on the floor (when he was a bit older) etc...but he wasn't overly interested. Once Rowan went into his crib, or even his room, our cat completely lost interest.

I bought one but never use it with DD, the cat was never bothered with the baby in a moses basket.

I think it solely depends on your cats. I have two indoor cats who are very needy and nosey. I thought that the moses basket would have been a huge problem. But they never actually bothered with it.

I think once they realize the screaming baby that's come in and disturbed their peace, is the one occupying the moses basket they tend to steer clear :)
