I am very early pregnant (4 weeks) and for the first time my numbers are actually high and are doubling!! However, I am a community college professor and my students have everything from colds to pneumonia, to even whooping cough now! I had my whooping cough vaccine as a child, but am afraid it has worn off. I am wishing now I had gotten a booster shot before getting pregnant again. I don't mean to rant on, I am just scared half to death! So many of these kids don't take care of themselves and I am afraid it is going to affect my pregnancy!

:hugs: Maybe speak to your MW about the best ways to protect yourself?

I work in a massive office with loads of people and a crap air conditioning system which seems to spread disease like wildfire - and there are a lot of folks with children who will be bringing home loads of germs from school.

All I did was use the anti bac gel and took vitamins - there's not much else you can do. I managed to fend it all off till 35 weeks when I got a chest infection. For the first 35 weeks all round me came down with SOMETHING - tummy bugs, mumps, colds, flu ( I had the flu jab at 28 weeks ) you name it - it was going round. I am normally the first to pick up anything - am asthmatic with a crap immune system and pg so a lowered immune system and I ran the gauntlet. You won't necessarily catch anything - all you can do is take the best precautions you can - your MW should be able to advise.

I'm the same, I'm just trying to keep a 6 ft distance between me and anyone who is sick, and use anti bact every time I was away from my desk for something, it's just the added stress isn't it!!

Please don't worry :hugs: there are so many of us in the same boat, no one can wrap themselves up away from the world for 40 weeks, as much as we'd love to sometimes, especially after a loss :(

I'm a nurse and come into contact with all sorts. You just have to take all the precautions you can and be sensible about the risk.

Try to keep yourself as well as you can and get advice from your Dr if there's something you're specifically worried about :hugs:

It is worrying, I agree with the others talk to your health care provider about it.

First time around I constantly worried, I work as a nurse, I looked after patients who were receiving constant chemo and radiotherapy so all there body fluids are totally toxic to babies not to mention that they were transplant patients so they had no immune systems and picked up the most bizarre infections on the planet... that were very dangerous to pregnant women. I spent a lot of time not being able to go into a lot of patients rooms, however I still had to work with the staff that did and I worried about that.
