I know there has probs been a millions posts, but i am to tired to plough through them so i have a few questions if you wouldn't mind...

I am going to try expressing soon, probably once we get to six weeks - as my best friend is returning for a holiday next month and we are planning an evening out, so i want to be able to go out with out worrying about getting home to feed. So plan on leaving bottles for OH.

1. When is the best time to express? Is it morning, if so do I do it before i fed LO or after?
2. How long does the milk keep in the fridge?
3. What size bottles should I be feeding him? I mean whats the average a 6 week old would have in a bottle? (does that make sense?)

Umm okay I think that's it...for now lol. I might think of some more when I'm more awake!

Thanks in advance for you help girls...any tips on expressing would be good to :)

Great thread, watching closely - we are hitting the magic 6 weeks tomorrow, so thinking about starting to pump also xxx

Rough guide is 1oz per hour, whatever the age.

Most women have success in the morning. I pump after immediately after the first feed.

Milk is safe for 8 days in the fridge (at the back, not in the door).

We started a bottle now and again at 7 weeks....

I pump after his first morning feed (off the other boob) and seem to get the most at this time. I get about 5 oz and pop it straight in the freezer where its ok for 6 months.

He takes between 3 and 6oz depending on how hungry he is. We normally offer 5oz now and he just stops when he wants to same as if he was on the boob. :baby:

Thanks so much :)

That kellymom site is as...never seen it before. It's now saved in my favourites!
