This is our first baby, I plan to breast feed & pump (not all the time just when needed).

My brother has given me their unused tommee tippee breast pump, I have been looking at tommee tippee bottles.

Could you please advise how many bottles I will need and is it best to buy the colic bottles first or wait to see if baby has colic?

Thank you :)

I pump and breastfeed as well and actually use the Tommee Tippee bottles (anti-colic). Which I love I must add. It has a very slow flow and I think it very similar to the breast, unlike a lot of bottles. Because they are used to working harder to get milk, the faster flow bottles can be a nightmare swallowing too much air and milk. I don't see any drawback on using the anti-colic at all.

As for how many bottles do you need? Depends how much you want to clean them and how many times you plan on using a bottle. I have been pumping and freezing extra milk, but I usually keep a bottle or two in the fridge. If the bottle isn't used for a day or two, rotate to the freezer. My husband normally does the evening feed around midnight and sometimes the 7am feeding (I still pump to not lower my supply) so 4 bottles have been enough for us... we wash one or two every day which I don't think is a big deal.

Four bottles have been more than enough for us here too, plus some pots/ bags for freezing.
