Has anyone dealt with extreme exhaustion in the second trimester? My husband was gone for a week on holidays so I knew I would be extra tired taking care of a toddler 24/7 while pregnant but he's been back for a couple days and the exhaustion hasn't lifted :(

I feel wiped from the moment I wake up and it lasts all day long. This has been going on for just over a week. Prior to that I had lots of energy and felt normal. Now I have a hard time doing the simplest of things and frankly, it's causing me anxiety bc I don't feel it's normal to feel this tired!

I haven't had my iron checked since 6 weeks nor has my thyroid been checked. To make matters worse my doctor is away on holiday for another week  any suggestions?

I've been feeling like that lately, too. My second trimester energy has suddenly evaporated the past few weeks. The other day, despite 10 hours of sleep at night, I felt so tired it made me light-headed. I had to lie down on the couch all morning and drink water. For me, I think it's a combination of stress, being busy, not sleeping well some nights, and just plain being pregnant. My body seems to have a very hard time recovering after busy/stressful days. Try to rest as much as possible, drink water and eat well. If you're still feeling bad when your doctor gets back, I'd go in for a visit.

I've felt this way this past week. My house is a mess, I haven't cooked all week it's awful. I know is just an exhausted week because I did just have my iron levels checked and I'm fine. Just hoping it'll pass and I'll be normal again.

Here's hoping your energy chimes back too!

Same thing has happened to me in the last week or so (18-19 weeks). I thought it was because I was doing some nesting work in the evenings, but I finished that 4 days ago. I see the midwife on Tuesday so maybe I'll get some answers.

Thank you for the replies. I managed to have a good afternoon nap yesterday and felt better than I have in many days. Of course last night I psyched myself out worrying that I wouldn't fall asleep at a decent time so of course was up until midnight :dohh:

I do notice that this all started after being very stressed and anxious about my dh being away so maybe there's some truth to that jinga?

Let me know if you figure anything out Missyann.

I no how this feels! Ur not alone. I'm also running around after 3yr old & working too. Yesterday I had a nap at 5pm til 9pm! Woke very cross with myself. DF was ok with it said I guess u needed to sleep. Then I was asleep again at 12am til 9am! Just can sleep & sleep. My iron is fine too lol x

I'm in the same boat as you ladies. Bloody exhausted!

Yep! I'm so exhausted I just can't function properly. Have no energy to clean or cook etc. I'm gonna talk about it tomorrow with my midwife cause it's just abnormally tired not just tired tired :(

I have been feeling like this my entire pregnancy and so tired of feeling tired. My bp has been on the low side and also am anemic so getting a blood test might be a good idea.

This mirrors what I feel at the moment. It's a really awful feeling to have continuously.

I have very low blood pressure (86/54 approx.) but have had it for months and felt fine

I am wiped at the moment, I was hoping the second tri would bring the burst of energy but it's worse than it was all first tri! I have naturally low blood pressure usually (90/65) and I get terrible symptoms when pregnant that have kicked in at the same time - whenever I stand up I get about 4-5 steps and then get a massive head rush and have to lie down before I black out. I had it really badly in my last pregnancy and went into hormone shock? or something and had to go to hospital because my whole body was shaking and teeth chattering. That said, I know I'm not drinking enough or eating often enough so thinking maybe my body is not getting enough of what it needs. I'm working half the week, doing the school run every day for my 4 year old, looking after my 2 year old, doing gardening, etc. etc. just massively overdoing it without realising I think but it's just so frustrating!!

I feel for you! It can't be easy with that work load and two little ones to care for. Definitely make an effort to improve your diet. I actually had some energy this morning and was able to bake a little and do dishes. I have started snacking on dried fruit/almonds, increased my intake of spinach and oatmeal on a daily basis and up'd my red meat intake. Not sure if it's helping or if having dh home is but it can't hurt. Really hope exhaustion lifts for all you ladies. This is NOT fun and really sucks the fun out of every day life.
