Extremely sore lumps in breast

Couldn't find anywhere to put this but I've been concerned for the last week. My left breast is swollen. It began last week just painful nipples like it's too cold out, but it would come and go. Day after day it got worse. Then I noticed the pain was no longer in my nipple, it was underneath and also in my armpit. Next day the skin where there was pain started turning red/pink and under the skin it felt hard. I started reading about ducts being blocked but I am not pregnant I just had a US diagnosing me with PCOS and have not breastfed before. When I sleep or move it is super painful. I tried applying heat in case it is a clogged duct, and I tried massaging the lumps out and it helped temporarily but it made my nipples turn red like they had been tortured. It's back to being painful thick a little more red spread around then nipple and areola. It's just on the left. My mother seems to think its simply a bruise because she had something similar happen to her and she flipped, but I'm not quite sold.

I would see a Dr too. I once went when I found a small lump under my armpit. Turned out to be some bruising/tissue damage but the dr reassured me I'd done the right thing by checking myself and getting anything unusual checked out at the surgery.
