Facing Reality

So DH and I are moving onto our "year without success" milestone and have been referred to a specialist. Appointment is in a few short weeks, but I've heard that it can take MONTHS to truly get the ball rolling with treatments.

We have no clue why we haven't conceived. My bloodwork from my gp came back all normal. DH hasn't had any tests yet....wondering if there's a male issue?

Anyway, just feeling down because everyone around me is getting pregnant at the drop of a hat...and now I'm looking at fertility help.

I know it's frustrating honestly but my fertility specialist said it can take a normal healthy couple 3 years to concieve.. I'm on 27 months so please try not to worry. X

Wow 3 years? I'm around the corner to 2 years and already feel like ripping my hair out. But I'm dealing with a male factor, so that really means I'll conceive naturally (maybe) in 6 years? Oh boy, I better quit.

You get bloodwork done, an ultrasound to check for PCOS, and a lap/dye to check if your fallopian tubes are open. Then a sperm analysis for your DH. My gyno said 50% of the issue lies with the woman and 50% with the male. Or you both check out fine but are then lumped into the "unexplained" category.

So it's anyone's game. Good luck and hopefully you can get to the root of the problem.

I was referred to a fertility specialist and a month later I saw a doctor. The month after that, (which is now) I had all of the tests done that my fertility specialist ordered. I go back at the end of this cycle to start treatment for the next cycle.

You will get all the tests you need done and figure out why you aren't conceiving in no time.
