Failed newborn screening test

I don't have much hope that she will pass. She failed the basic one where they use probe to send echo to ear and the ear sends one back. She failed thîs on both sides. They managed to half complete the more detailed one using electrodes on her right. They manage to ascertain that she has a hearing loss but she responded to moderate sounds.

We have just had the same thing. LO failed the one at the hospital and then subsequent 2 more tests. They have said she has reduced mild/moderate hearing loss. They will test again at 6 months but I doubt much will change. I feel so sad for her and worried. Nobody has really explained anything to us and I worry for her future x

I feel the same. Last week we both felt gutted about it. But I have read a few threads from parents in the same situation and my mother in law has spoken to people she knows that have hearing loss children and I feel better.

Apparently early intervention is importànt and as long as there is some hearing they càn help. My friends that are teachers tell me students do reàlly well generally.

I'm going to stay positive. I just hope we actuslly complete the test on Tuesday.

My LO failed in his right ear in the hospital and was retested when he was 3 weeks old. He passed immediately that time!
