Anyone else experiencing this? It's not all the time, mostly happens when I lie down.

My doctor said it was probably normal as everything is getting squished together and my heart is having to work harder to grow baby. But then she also then wanted me to go see a heart specialist. So I went. He took my blood and had me wear a heart monitor for 48 hours. It all came back normal, so he wants to run MORE tests!

I don't understand. They said it was probably fine, and everything was normal, so why more tests? I feel like it's going to be a waste of time and money and I'm not sure my insurance will cover it.

So I told the nurse I didn't want to schedule it right away and would call her back.

What would you do?

It may be symptoms of low blood pressure or it may be that you're squishing some vital veins / arteries making it difficult for the heart. I've also read the hormonal changes ie increase in progesterone can cause heart palpitations.

For lbp drink loads of water, salt your food and exercise regularly. Exercise by far has helped me the most with lbp, and I'm pretty extreme on the numbers as I have it even without being pregnant.

For the squishing, try to lay mostly on your sides, preferably left and see if that helps. Hope it gets better soon.

I noticed more heart palpitations and shortness of breath during my 2nd trimester, but it seems to have improved into my 3rd trimester. Although, I can't lay flat without a pillow because I have a difficult time breathing. I've read that heart palpitations are normal (to a point) in pregnancy because your body is working twice as hard to support a growing baby.

I also have palpitations and increased heart rate.
And I have difficulty breathing when I lie down but I guess it's normal.
As for the heart rate and palpitation I just found out I have iron deficiency anemia....

I have this also. I had the same last time and was quite anaemic. Going to ask the midwife to check my bloods next week. X

I have difficulty breathing when I lie down but I think that is just normal. I have had palpitations and increased heart rate, but found out that I have low iron. I googled & low iron/anemia can cause increased heart rate/palpitations.
