So lets take a break from baby bump worries and talk food.

:)

Whats your favorite dish to make?

For me usually its homemade spinach chicken alfredo but tonight I made steak enchiladas for a few of my co-workers and SO and think it may have stolen the spot for number one. I fussed around with what I normally put in there and added jalapeno cream cheese as well as a homemade cheese sauce on top and they left me with no left overs. Lmao

Oh, don't even get me started on recipes :) :haha:
I am a cook-aholic. I used to cook everyday, but DH told me to quit making good food as he was trying to lose weight. So I stick to the weekends now. Just yesterday I made shredded barbecue beef sandwiches with homemade barbecue sauce. I prefer not to cook my roast in the barbecue sauce as some people do, but tend to season the meat(garlic salt, onion powder, chili pepper, barbecue spice, and whatever else I randomly decide to grab that day) then cook it in my slow cooker with a cup of beef broth, 1/2 cup of cider vinegar, and a couple tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce on low for about 8 hours, until fork tender. Delicious. Living in the Oklahoma, and the daughter of a cattle rancher, I take great pride in my beef and barbecue :D
But I also love to cook different types of cuisine. DH swore up and down when we met that he hated Chinese food,(well Chinese American) but now he begs for my sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. I'm also big on Italian and Mexican. And I love to make sushi when I can get up to the Asian market in OKC to get supplies.

Thats it. Im kidnapping you and your family. You can live in the closet and make food and teach me your ways, lol.

Im always changing what I put into a dish, sometimes good sometimes bad, but I cant seem to help myself. Id love to learn how to make sushi since its one of my favorite things.

I make a mean spaghetti bolognese, and also lasagne it's dh and ds favourite.
Risottos, paella, beef stroganoff, beef in Guinness, roasts (not had one all summer might defrost our huge Turkey soon.
Chicken stuffed and wrapped in parma ham or bacon.
I can't think what else we eat lol but u love all of those recipes.
I cook from scratch nearly every day.
Xx

I thought for a second we were going to actually post our recipes! :haha:

My favorite dish that I make is my homemade chili. It takes all day to chop veggies & cook but it is so good and it lasts for like a week.

And my husband's favorite thing that I make is stuffed chicken breasts!

Chicken and veg pie... Nom!! I do cheat on the pastry though! With roasties, broccoli and braised red cabbage. *dribbles*

Lol!

Experimenting with recipes is what is fun about cooking! I love creating new things. And it comes in handy when we don't have much on hand, and I don't want to go to the grocery store. Just throw together what I can dig out of the cabinet, freezer, and/or fridge!

I am addicted to sushi! My sister bought me a sushi making kit years ago, and I've been making it ever since.

DH keeps telling me to open a restaurant, but that requires money :) Maybe one day.

I love making chili too! Just waiting for that fall weather. It's too hot right now. I've got a bunch of venison in my freezer just waiting to be thrown into a chili pot!(Deer is also a big staple for my family :) )

Oh I love venison, if I can get good value venison I make game pie xx

I hate to cook :( My poor dh! Lol. I just wanted to chime in on the game meat. Every year we go get an elk, it has been at least 3 years since I have bought hamburger meat :)

I'm lucky that my dad gives me all the venison I want. He shoots as many a year as he's allowed, so there is always a freezer full at their house! And soon to be another freezer of beef. Can't wait! He's got a young bull calf he's fattening up for the fall. I've missed home raised beef. He had to sell out during a bad drought a few years ago and is just now getting started up again.
I hate buying from stores. Nothing beats what you can raise or hunt yourself! And once we can afford some land, DH and I are going to start raising all our own livestock and crops.

I've never had elk, but I've heard it's good! I think there is a restaurant near my sister that has elk and all kinds of wild game on the menu.(She's in Colorado) Might have to try it next time I visit. We had antelope one year when my dad got drawn for a hunt. It was pretty good, but I still prefer venison.

Wow! When we move to a bigger house dh wants to buy our meat in like half a pig, a whole lamb etc etc xx

Antelope is even better than elk! The deer here (I live in New Mexico) is not all that tasty.

We are a hunting family. :)

The key to good game meat is letting it hang as long as possible!

I may just not have cooked the antelope well :) It was back about 10 years ago(That was the only time my dad got drawn), and I have only ever cooked beef and venison. I think I might have to try it again sometime.

Our deer are very tasty! Of course it may be because my father maintains them on his property. He has feeders out year round and plants fields for them(clover mostly)

Our deer are pecan and wheat fed! (We have a pecan tree farm) But they eat so much nasty stuff out in the desert it cancels out the yummies. Lol

There isn't much hunting to be had around here, most game is reared on country estates here.
There are areas of wild deer here but hunting is illegal and must be done as organised population control culling/stalking - I think.
