does anyone elses LO take different amounts every feed?

rhys is so tempremental with his feeding..some days he is great and some day he is awful..like today he has had just 10 oz in two feeds whereas this time yesterday he had had 15oz.

why is it that sometimes he takes 8oz and then the same time the next day only take 5oz?

he was 13 hrs since his last bottle this morning and only had 5oz!!

drives me insane worrying about his feding and weight!!!

xx

Hi hun. As u started early weaning babies at 5 mnths start to get off their milk due to teething & early weaning. We went through this 2 mnths back. One night I was so desparate I spoon fed him his formula ( & the monster took it with no problems). I tried sippy cups but with no success.

Try to offer him formula mixed with his solid to maintain 24 oz in 24 hrs. I knw how frustrating it is. Omar is still on & off his bottles & some days he only takes 15 oz. I try to maintain 18 oz in addition to yoghurt & cheese.

if he gainin weight i wouldnt worry about the intake in milk as one day he may take loads an the followin day not as much then the 3rd day takes loads its there way of catchin up with the feeds as the mw advised me its like us some days we can over eat so the followin day we dnt eat as much if hes hugry am sure he'll tell ya with his lil crys xxxxx

hope tht makes sense xxx

i think its completely normal, a lot of people seem to thinks babies should drink x amount of oz's every feed and get quite hung up on it, babies have days where they just have less, or more, the same as we do :)

dont worry too much as long as he is still satisfied after his feed and is gaining his weight im sure he will be fine hun

yesterday morning Lana had half a jar of porridge followed by 9oz of milk - today she had half a jar of fruity museli followed by 5oz of milk - never the same 2 days in a row

thanks ldies for suggestions, im already doing all of them. i try and mix as much milk in with stuff as i can. he put on 4oz in 4 weeks last time he got weighed which is why i worry. i suppose i should just stop worrying until he starts to lose weight. :( x

Did u try replacing one solid with a bottle instead? It's working for us. I'm only giving Omar 2 solids at the moment & giving him extra bottle instead. They need their milk more than solids at this stage.

My Lo is the same she is just not interested in her milk most days she only takes 24 oz, she does not sleep much through the day and i'm sure its because she does not take her milk. She take a big feed at 6-7 as she falls asleep on it and a 6oz bottle at 10 which we dreem feed. The rest of the day she takes about 4 oz, on each feed. Like your baby Rhiannon, Lucie is not gaining alot of weight either and have to get her weighed every week.

Megan is gaining weight so I'm not concerned about that - but sometimes I wonder how she's gaining - as she's not to keen on her milk at all. She never has the same amount - but has only finished 6oz I think once in the past month. Most bottles is between 2-4oz.. but sometimes she'll surprise me & drink 4 1/2-5 so I always make 6 just incase she'll drink it. I was told by the dr that if she would only drink 4oz in a bottle that I need to offer 5 bottles. Well Megan doesnt want 5 bottles - she only wants 4. Past 2 days she had 12oz all day - today was 14oz. She slept through on those 12 oz! She's getting 3 solids a day as she wont accept more bottles. She sometimes even on her morning bottle will only take 2oz. If I try to offer it again 1/2 -1 hr later she will just refuse it. I offer her formula in her sippycups as well instead of any water or juice. Dr said to do this if she wasnt getting 18oz in per day. The only time she gets 18 or more oz a day is if she wakes at night unsettled (due to teething not hunger - but I give her a bottle to help settle her).
