Lucas was doing really great an feeding like clockwork every 3~4hours for about 20~30mins, but over the last few days he's started feeding for about 5~10mins and is wanting fed pretty much every 1~2hours.

is anyone experiencing the same thing? I'm beginning to feel like i have him chained to my boob continually as he gets really upset and the only thing that will settle him is feeding him.

Sounds like maybe the start of a growth spurt. Sometimes they just want Mummy. Hang in there - it'll pass. It's his way of getting your boobies to up the supply ;)

:hugs:

Yep. Ada does this about every other day. Thankfully its during the day and not at night.

I'm having this issue and it's driving me insane!
My Anya is almost awake for all of the day either feeding or crying, she'll sleep at night feeding for 20 mins or so every 3 hours. But i really feel I can't handle the days, my husband can't settle her and all she wants is my breast. She then feeds for 2 mins and falls alseep. Move her, she wakes and cries until she's back on it.

What can I do?

Alenky, try your best to keep bub awake to have a full feed. She may just be getting the foremilk if she's only feeding 2 minutes. If you encourage her as much as possible to stay away and get a good feed of foremilk and hindmilk, it should keep her happier between feeds and spread the feeds a little further apart.

HTH. :hugs:

Feeding frenzys are soooooo common around growth spurt times, which are commonly around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less - I think bub's may vary a bit). I think bf mummies get a rough deal as the 'frenzy' is about encouraging our milk supply, so means a coulpe of days and nights chained to the sofa!!! :dohh:

Alenky - it sounds good that your little girl knows the difference between night and day (one less battle). Easy to say, but if you can go with what Anya wants during the day. Perhaps encouraging her to be more alert for her day feeds? SHe may take a little more. (nappy changes, stripping her to her vest). Although it's hard and may not make any difference until the growth spurt has passed.

Those early days/weeks are hard going but you're doing amazingly well!!! WHat helped me was someone on the forum (I think it was XXKATXX) started a thread to support all the mummies going through these spurts, and for those endless nights.... great to moan, rant, support and generally feel better that it's not just you!!! Why dont you guys re-start one???

xxx:hugs:

If bubs keeps nodding off every two minutes just make sure you keep feeding off the same boob for a good amount of time, dont swap too often. Can feel like a pain in the bum when they are little all the yoyo'ing on and off the boob all day/everyday. Get's easier though. Plus growth spurts can be terrible for making you doubt your milk supply..

Freya is dead on. Just wanted to add my encouragement and say you are doing great.

Just to say im there too with this issue xxxxxxx
