Hi, Oliver is just over 3 weeks old and has been feeding on cow and gate and has been taking anywhere from 60- 90 ml ( 2-3oz) per feed, more consistently taking 3 ozs. The HV said to up the amount i make to 4 oz when he is doing this so that if he wants more he can have it and he has seemed to want more when he does finish his 3 oz bottles.
So, I made some 4 oz feeds. At 10pm last night he had 120ml, then his next 2 feeds were 90ml, and then this morning at 8 he had about 100ml, but after both the 10pm and this morning 8am feeds he has been sicky, not loads but more than ever before and it comes out of his nose too and he is obviously distressed but this. some comes out while he is feeding which is just hasnt swallowed and some comes out after burping.
Does this mean he isnt ready for more food yet and I should leave him on 90ml and not offer any more?
he sounds quite nasal at the moment and was very noisy in the night, no idea if this is connected. I didnt get much sleep so sorry if this is a ramble, I am pretty exhausted.
Any tips or advice or possible solutions will be welcome.
Could it be that he needs a change in type of formula? Also, when I was in the hospital they told me to feed him almost flat - should I be holding him more upright now? How do you all hold your babies for feeding.
