My twins were bad eaters when they were first born but then aftera while started finishing bottles in 25-30 minutes but for the last two weeks they take an hour and half the time don't finish. They fight most of it waving their tounges around or crying. They get half breast milk and half neosure preemie formula for my son and half enfacare preemie formula for my daughter (she threw up with neosure). He is on medela bottles and she uses avent but we tried different bottles, faster nipples and no change. They don't even do well after their 6 hour stretches at night and we just dropped one night bottle and they aren't making up the difference. They are 3 months. I am frustrated and don't know what to do.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my LO, he was feeding fine and then all of a sudden was drinking some and then crying and screaming, we took him to the doctors and they told us it was a silent reflux, when the milk is coming back up from the stomach and the acid is burning the windpipe.. So a bit like heartburn. I'm not sure if this is the same thing as what we experienced, we changed milk to a reflux milk and he's been a great feeder ever since, I found it really frustrating at the time aswel because your trying to do the best for your baby/babies but they aren't hardly taking any feeds. How long has it been happening for? They could just have a bit of a sniffle and are off milk?? I hope this helps and they are soon back to their usual selves.

My daughter is actually on reflux medicine and she has been congested the last two days but it has been going on for like 2 weeks.

Aww bless them! What I used to do to try and get my LO to drink more is (it might sound a bit weird) but just keep talking to him and even rocking him slightly and he did used to seem more comfortable, if she's congested, is it possible teething, that can put them off their milk because of rubbing on the sore gums.. Are they dribbling more, chewing on hands or anything and res cheeks?

We've tried rocking, bouncing, takking, silence in a dark room. Every thing I could think of. They are drooling a little but by corrected age they are only 7 weeks so I wouldnt think teething already.

It is unlikely teething the but babies can start teething months before teeth actually appear and also, some babies are born with teeth so not impossible.. Hope everything's sorts itself out soon

:) x
