hiya girlies after a lot of advice lol sorry

Basically to make life easier i bought a fisher price flask and tommee tippee tubs for putting formula in so i can make feeds up on the go when im out...

firstly if im boilking the water, letting it cool for half an huor then putting it in the flask how long can i keep this for making feeds??

Secondly the tubs for putting the formula into....obv they need sterilised before use but they need to be dry before putting the milk formula in....how do i dry them?? lol i have a microwavable steriliser so things stay sterile in it as long as its not opened for 24 hours but when i opened it the condensation meant the tubs were still wet but i couldnt dry them with a towel coz it'd obv mean they werent sterile anymore....how do i fix this??? lol help n advice would really be appreciated i ended up having to go n buy individual cartons for a day out today! lol bought all this stuff to save money on the cartons! lol

thanks in advance xx

im on the same boat - but i just dry them with kitchen roll, theres nothing else to do i don't think !?.. so will be watching this post ! xx

I also was using kitchen rolls. We cant be too obsessed about everything. & I used to do the same regarding water. xx At 6 mnths I stopped sterilizing dispensers & I started using water at room temperature xx

I let things air dry but a paper towel is just as good!

how long though???? I lef them for like 4 hours n they were still damp....they are obv only sterile for so long...lol im so confused.com! x

I don't ever steralise the pots I put powder into as the powder isn't sterile itself I just wash them in really hot water and then dry with kitchen roll, when I use a flask I just put the water in as soon as it has boiled as it will lose some heat in the flask and it will last longer that way, the flask I have got will keep water warm from boiling for about 8 hours probably even longer if I tried.

Brookie, Im the same as SaraAbi. the powder in the original tub is NOT sterile, so no need to sterilize the store tub either. I just wash mine in BOILING water and it self dries in minutes.

Re the hot water and flask. I use a thermos flask. Boil a kettle and fill the flask, empty it a couple mins later (heats it up)then refill with the near boiling water. I also have a pre sterilized bottle of fridge cold water in my nappy bag. So when im out and about i dissolve the formula in an oz of the flask water THEN top up to the level with the cold water. That way its instant for LO. I also do this at night...so i can stay in bed and make it ;-) works brilliantly and theres no cooling down for LO ti scream thru!!!!!

xx

The milk isn't sterile hun so I wouldn't worry about the pots being sterile. I don't :) xx

Our flask came with leaflet telling us it kept things at the same temp for 12 hours (hot or cold). Not sure if all flasks are similar.
We used to sterilise pots and dry off on kitchen towel (read somewhere to use this rather than tea towel as less germs). But now don't as milk not sterile in its container as others mentioned x

I never sterilised my powder dispenser, but if it was wet when I wanted to use it I'd use kitchen roll to dry it. I would put the water in the flask just a couple of minutes after it's boiled - then it should stay hotter for longer. I also found that the fuller the flask is, the better it keeps the heat.

I've never sterilised the pots that I put powdered milk into as the milk itself isnt sterile anyways

As for the water in the flask, I have no idea you can keep it for tbh, but I wouldnt bother letting it cool for 30 minutes, just a couple of minutes will do :)

I dont sterlise the little pots either as the milk tub isnt sterile. If your going out for the day the water will last in the flask till you get home :) Or put the water in your bottles in the morning and let them cool in your bag while out? Then just add the formula out of your little tubs into the water when lo is ready for afeed :)
