Hi ladies,

i just need to get this off my chest, hope you don't mind.

I have my hycosy scan a week on Monday at 9am then my follow up appointment straight after at 11am. So, I am scared about the scan and nervous about getting the results of bloods, semen analysis and scan in the appointment afterwards. On the positive side, at least we don't have 2 trips to the hospital!

To top it all off I have an exam the day after - Tuesday! So, I have a lot on my mind as you can imagine and starting to feel a bit stressed about it all.

I decided to start studying again to try and take my mind off TTC, but now I feel like TTC is taking my mind off my studies :haha: Not what I wanted! So, I am thinking that maybe it was a bad idea to start studying again with all this going on, but its a bit late now!

Maybe it would help if you went to the uni library and studied? Get in the right setting and hopefully your mind will follow.

Thanks Army Wife. That is a good idea, but I am doing home study, so that is not an option I'm afraid!

Hi Sapphia
I know how much you can wind yourself up about it - but if it's anything like mine the scan will be fine - I felt really silly for getting so nervous about it as the nurses were lovely and it was all over and done within minutes! It's going to be a big day for you, but just remember that whatever they say, and even if they find a problem, it still means you are one step closer to getting it sorted. Is your partner going with you too?

My one piece of advice would be to write down any questions you have beforehand, and also what they say on monday - I found that as I was stressed I got confused over what they actually told me and couldnt remember properly!

Try not to stress - it'll be OK. And good luck x

Thanks Mrs Elsie,

I hope it goes as smoothly as yours! I read on the internet that the dye stings. Did it sting you? I keep trying to do positive thinking, but the negative thoughts seem to creep back in! My DH is coming with me.

Writing things down is a good idea, I think I will do that

Hiya
No it didnt sting at all, it felt a bit weird when they put the dye in - I guess it was a bit of cramping like feeling but that was it. Ooh I just remembered, I did take a couple of nurofen about an hour beforehand - my doctor said to do this, and I'm not sure whether it masked any pain but I'd suggest doing the same.
Glad to hear your DH is going with you - just remember what you're doing it for and come Tuesday evening you'll feel great that you've got two big things out of the way - why dont you plan a nice dinner out or something for the Tuesday evening as a reward?
