Feeling bummed about baby ignoring me :(

I know I've brought this up before but it's still really bothering me. My lo started ignoring me around 6 months. He's now 8 months and I still feel like he will try his hardest not to look at me, not engage with me too often and I feel like I have to jump through hoops to entertain him. Yet when we goes to his grandparents home or if my husband plays with him he smiles like crazy and puts on a show for them. It's starting to make me feel like my baby doesn't like me I know this likely isn't true but I really don't know how to get him to interact with me more. It breaks my heart that I spend my whole day taking care of him and yet often get ignored.

Do you think he's picking up on my boredom (I am currently a SAHM with too much time on my hands and no vehicle) therefore ignoring me because I often find myself putting him down to get stuff done so I have something to do. Don't get me wrong, I play and entertain him every day so we definitely mix it up. Maybe he needs extra attention? I really don't know what to do! Is this normal??

Sounds pretty normal to me. He sees you all day everyday so it's not exciting anymore. There's days when Quinn doesn't laugh at me but is ecstatic when her dad gets home.

But tbh I doubt he's ignoring you, he's probably happy entertaining himself.

My LO has been like that since about 6 months too. Completely ignores me as if I'm a piece of furniture. I do at times feel sad because its like to her grandparents shes talkative and smiles alot me its like she just cries

Ive been feeling like this too. My LO only wants to be with daddy at the moment and couldn't care less if im around or not but we went out yesterday and left her all day with her grandparents and when we got back I told OH to wait outside for a minute (because if she saw him first i wouldn't get a look in) and when I went in the smiles and the cuddles I got were so amazing. It really gave me a boost so maybe try going out for a day and see the reaction when you get back!

Omg I literally laid on the floor next to Lucas this morning while he was crawling around and playing with this music thing, I looked like such a loser because he could care less that I was there. I kept tapping his shoulder saying, excuse me! Excuse me! Pay attention to meeee!!!! Lol I didn't get one look from him. Hahahaha

Ciara used to go mad with excitement when OH got home and never had that excitement with me. But since being back at work I now get it and it's lovely. I get huge hugs now. So I agree with perhaps leaving him for a while with someone. You'll soon see how much you mean to him. It is just because we are with them all day x

Thanks for the replies ladies. My laptop is broken so it's been hard to get on here to reply but I appreciate you commiserating with me, lol! I tried to give my lo as much attention as possible this last week and it helped...a little bit but I think you guys are right:he sees me all the time. I'm hoping it will get better as he gets older! Let's hope!
