Hi guys,
I've been feeling like this for a few days like I'm stuck in the deep end with everything and then I feel awfully guilty.. I mean do NOT get me wrong I am thrilled I'm going to be a mummy, I'm over the moon but I feel so stuck in the deep end and not sure what to do? I can't talk to anyone I know as they don't know yet and ugh, I need some advice!
OH is currently signed off from work (he lost his job and now on sick pay from job centre due to a knee injury, he could be off work for up to a year.) so I'm the only one working. However my job is making it very difficult for me as they expect me to do stupid hours (60 hours sometimes) and I have to carry heavy items like beer barrels and heavy chairs etc. So i'm always shattered. I don't make nearly enough money as it's gone on my car which i just litterarly brought before I found out and I cannot get rid of it as it'll come in handy.
Me and OH need to find somewhere to live by OCTOBER, which is NOT good as like I say we have no money together saved not even for the baby.
Should I go to the council and explain? and try and get us a place? Do you think we would be on low priority though? Even though OH is signed off sick and I'm around 7 weeks preggers?
I don't know what to do, i'm really getting stressed from it which doesn't help bubba. :( Sorry guys for rambling just needed some advice about the local council housing?

You wont be low priority hun, but you probably wont get a house straight away.
Im not sure how it works at all, but Im sure pregnant/mums get help with housing, rent and stuff.

Just go and ask them, you've nothing to lose and its a weight off your shoulders xx

Thanks hun, I know if worse comes to worse me and OH will have to go into a hostel for a while which isn't great as around here the hostels are known for crack heads and theifs.

big hugs hun :hugs: I know it isn't easy trying to get everything to come together!
with the council, I'd definitely go and talk to them as that seems to be the only way they get anything done! with your work, I know you've said before that you don't want to tell anyone yet but it's got to be worth telling someone in the company that you're pregnant, because carrying heavy barrels isn't advisable at all. When you're pregnant, they have to do a new risk assessment for you, so that'd mean that you wouldn't be doing any heavy lifting or ridiculous hours. do you have a HR manager or someone in higher management that you could tell? That way it doesn't mean everyone finding out yet, but means that your pregnancy is taken into consideration :) xx

Hun dont think like that, because you'll get yourself worked up.
Wait and see what they have to say and go from there :)

Okay thank you, I will try. I'm scared about telling my work though as I'm going for a supervisor position and obviously if they find out i'm pregnant then
they won't be offering me a pay rise. :dohh:

The only higher person I have is my manager, because my work is joined onto the hotel the HR managers all work over there but they don't handle the pub so I don't think we have any. A

Definately go and speak to the council and explain your situation. Then at least you are going to be more informed about what options are open and available to you. And because you are sorting it while you are still in early pregnancy, it means you have a decent amount of time to get yourself organised.
I don't know if they are *allowed* to do anything because you are pregnant, i.e deny you a pay rise.. Don't quote me on that though! You should definately let them know though so you won't be lifting heavy objects. You can just tell your boss, and ask them not to tell anyone. I hated telling my work, but it was all fine in the end.

I really hope he doesn't say anything, as my MIL actually works with me! They do not get on (our work is like one big 'happy' family) and he tends to blurt out things. and seeing as MIL doesn't know yet I'm quite worried he would do that. :growlmad: (He is very untrust worthy anyway, he brags in his last job he stole from the company. :growlmad:) I think I will tell him this week, as the barrells are getting way to heavy and chairs i don't mind but it would be nice not too!

argh that's frustrating...I can see why you don't want to say anything yet. But you just really dont want to be lifting heavy things now.. unless there's a way you could pass the heavy lifting onto someone else discreetly?
