Hi all...

Well i guess i want a little advise. These past few days , oh my, i have been so ill :( and the thought of food makes me sick , i cant eat anything , my hubby tries his best and offers me a range, but i still feel like argh i cant eat it ! but then he says i have to eat fo baby to develop etc, so then if i do eat i eat little bits, and today i can really tell that ive lost weight.

also i keep getting continuos headaces, this in connection with me feeling sick, i cant do anything , and my nose is so sensitive its driving me mad...i have polo mints now and that helps , but im sure i may get sick of that too !

I dont know what to do ... Is there anything I can eat or take to prevent illness and give me more appetite ? I have cravings for nothing ! I just feel awfully ill.

I hope everything is ok

Drink Drink Drink Drink.

Broth, Water, Juice, protien drinks whatever.

Dehydration causes headaches, nausea, dizzyness, etc. So in other words if you are getting dehydrated, your mroning sickness will be worse.

I just tried as much bland food as I could. Cooked plain carrots, or other vegetables, hot cereal, egg sandwich, mashed pototoes. That way, if it came back up, I didn't make a mess of my esophagus.

You have enough stored body fat to ease you through this early time in pregnancy if you can't eat much. Just remember to hydrate, and try to find something that you can eat but when you do, try not to overeat! :) That was my biggest problem.

I'd find that cooked carrots were awesome one evening, and I'd pig out... overeat, then I'd get nauseated from being stuffed.

:hugs: My morning noon and night sickness just completely passed about one week ago. Hang in there!

My doc advised that I take a unisom tablet and b6 vitamin to help curb my pregnancy nausea. It helped a little, and did help me sleep at night :) You could ask your doc about that, or other meds too.

And strong pregnancy symptoms are a sign that everything is progressing very well with plenty of good pregnancy hormones!

i had sickness all day everyday for the last 4 weeks, i could keep food down but i was snacking all day but still felt sickly.
christmas day i woke up feeling really sick ,while i was getting washed i was sick.
i felt sick a little bit on boxing day but today i havnt felt sick at all.
Sorry if i cant help with what to advise you to eat but it should ease off soon.

hope you soon feel better.

oh i forgot to say i have lost 3lb since ive been pregnant.

My cousin, who is at about 7.5 weeks said she's already lost about 8 lbs. since getting pregnant. She can't keep anything down. But she said the Sea Bands (acupressure wrist bands) helped her some, and she was actually able to get lunch down yesterday. Also, prenatal vitamins make the nausea much worse...try breaking it in half. Or, my OB told me that if I couldn't stomach the prenatal to take regular old flinstones children's vitamins instead. That might make it a little better for you as well!

Good luck!

Margerel, I have been drinkng loads of water because that about the only thing i actually feel like and i got some polo mints like i said to suck on as i think it helps.

I hope everything is ok with me and baby!!

chefsara im taking pregnacare which has vitamins and folic acid in it , i think its a good combination for pregnancy! I guess i just want something to make the sickness mild..but looks like i'l just have to bare it out for a while.

and mrsnewbury, i havent been vomiting just going toilet a lot and feeling sick..sometimes i feell like if i do vomit that id feel better, but vomit doesnt come!

& Thanks for ur responses!

i was feeling the same way as you for a long time, all i can say is the doctor has always told me not to worry too much about the baby bec in the 1st tri its needs are not great in terms of food, this helped me feel calmer. even now in the second tri i cant eat too much but things have improved, there are still food i cant go near. all i can say that the others havent is try crackers or cookies, or cereal all of those you can have small bits. its weird but the more you let your tummy go hungry the worse you actually feel.

good luck

i suffered with terrible sickness during my first weeks of pregnancy. i was actually sick pretty much all day lost loads of weight. jeans are now tight on my tum but loose on my bottom. but it does past i feel much better now and im only a little nauseas first thing in the morning xxx

thats true about feeling worse when u dont eat but then u cant win coz u feel sick at the smell or thought of the food! it seems like such a fuss between me and me , lol

i know i also feel like im fighting myself, i went thru a stage of terrible hunger pains when i didnt even want to go near food. try very neutral things that dont have a smell, even if you can come up with just one or two things you can manage that will make you feel better. have you tried fruit? like apple or grapes? wouldnt go for the acidic ones like oranges that is a whole other book of treats!

if you arent petrified of vomiting like i am, then i would say go for it, if you throw up you throw it up but atleast you can test the theory of making yourself eat something and seeing if despite anything you think it does make u feel better, i know its easier said than done, but it worked for me.

Try to eat something small, even if its a cookie, every 2hrs to help prevent the sickness to come, if you keep topping yourself up it will help.

Sipping a really small glass of lemonade can help too..

Hi Pearl

I was taking Pregnacare on an empty stomach and feeling very very sick all day, then I started taking them only after a meal and the sicky feeling is much better .

Hope you feel better soon!!
x

Drink plenty of fluids, eat little and often and try to pack your meals with plenty of protein. As for smells, I used to hold my nose for most things which wasn't ideal, but it was a survival thing which helped no end! x

thanks for everyones replies, i do find that bland things help !
but also er, during pregnancy is the acid in the stomach increased or something ?

I haven't actually thrown up, but I feel nausea all the time. I drink water as much as I can, but for some reason it just doesn't sound good to me (and I always drank nothing but water before prego). I drink a lot of Sprite to calm my belly. When it comes to eating, I just eat whatever sounds good because I'm still picky on what I eat cause nothing ever sounds good. I just want the healthy food to sound good again so I can get back on my regular eating schedule instead of eating fattening stuff that's not good for me. As for prenatal vitamins, I have been taking mine right before bed. I still have days where I feel so sick that I just wish I would throw up (only to feel better, I hate throwing up). Hubby gets up in arms as to why I feel sick all the time, he just doesn't understand, men??? Hang in there girl. If you continue to be sick like that, talk to your doc, maybe he/she can recommend something to ease the symptoms.

i been eating bland cereals and the prenatals did not work for me at all i was so sick so i have switched to childrens chewables, funny as it seems there is everything in there too. but i also make sure im good on OJ for Folic acid and Milk for the calcium
