This probably sounds totally nuts and random, but last night, I started to have a slight stinging pain on the left side of my belly button. It feels like there's a small cut (though I can't really see it at the moment). I have never had this happen before... has anyone else? Is it possibly from my stomach stretching or is it just something random that happened to cut me and I didn't realize?

Sorry for being a loon. It stings a bit to even lay on it.

You're not a loon at all hon :flower:

Is this your first pregnancy? You're at a stage where your uterus has just risen past your belly button. I remember in my first pregnancy that whole area felt very tight and painful at the time. It is possible it has stretched slightly and is stinging from that. You could try a little savlon or something to numb it but I would say what you are feeling is totally normal.

Yes, first pregnancy. I've been going over all of yesterday in my head and just cannot come up with where else it could have come from other than from my belly stretching, because it's starting to get bigger and rounder, plus baby has been moving around a lot in there the past 2 days.

Thanks for the help! I sometimes have no clue what is normal and what is not, so I think I'm a little crazy. I put some antibacterial cream to help it heal, so hopefully it will heal quick and go away.

Thank you so much!

Probably is your belly button stretching.

I had this but on the right hand side when I was pregnant with my son. It was stinging and VERY sore. It was so bad I saw my doctor about it. It literally felt like someone stabbed me in the stomach. My doctor said it was round ligament pain. I don't really believe that as all the other round ligament pain I had was very different. I think it was either the skin on my stomach stretching or my muscles underneath that were stretching. It really hurt for about 2 days and then it slowly eased off and was better in a few days.

I hope your belly feels better soon.

Yeah.. definitely not ligament pain, because I have had that as well. This is more of a stinging like when you get a cut. I guess I'll just stop touching it and hopefully it'll heal soon.

Thanks everyone :hugs:

As long as it doesn't look red and puffy or infected you are ok. Just keep an eye on it, it's probably the skin stretching. I had an inny before and mine started stretching and going flat. I had an old belly piercing (that I haven't worn a ring in for 6 years at least), and that started looking stretched out like a stretch mark and getting sore. Your poor little belly button skin is probably just irritated from all the skin tension. Hope it gets better soon:).
