Felix

So you may have seen my previous poll with ten different name options.. I've made this one just for "Felix" as My husband and I are leaning towards Felix.. but still am a bit concerned about people thinking Felix the cat... The name has a nice meaning, and there are lots of athletes, a composer, etc named Felix in the past... But everyone seems to go to Felix the cat which is unfortunate. Also concerned if it would be suiting for a grown man.. Thoughts? We also are in Canada and don't know a single Felix so it would be nice for him to have a unique name. Fits with our last name too.. Our plan is to not tell family and friends our chosen name until he's born... But I'd really like to see their reactions towards the name! Gah!

Absolutely love Felix! SO was really pushing for it back when we thought DD was going to be a boy, and I hated it. For whatever reason it's really grown on me and now it's my favorite boy name.

I honestly had no idea who Felix the cat was, had to look him up. Definitely wouldn't be something I immediately jumped to.

I am familiar with Felix the cat but I think it's along the same lines as Casper, in that it's not something your LO's generation is going to be familiar with, most likely. Even if they are, I don't think it's a terrible association.

Honestly when my friend called her son Felix, I like, why did she call him after a cat? A year later it doesn't even cross my mind, he is just Felix and it really suits him.

The way I see it, people are always going to associate a name with something else. Might as well use the name you really love!

I really can't stress it enough - if you love the name, use it! People will get over being jerks, and once your child is born, nobody will care anymore. My grandfather loathed our daughters name but now he's totally in love with her and just doesn't care at all. Also Felix is a great name. I said that on your last post too hahaha. I guess I'm just really rooting for Felix

Thanks! You're right, and like I said, I think we've made our choice and are sticking to it. After thinking about other name options, nothing else sounds right to us. This one is just perfect and we've found a great middle name and it goes well with our last name too My only concern now is that we can't decide on a backup incase we change our minds when we see him! Is a back up necessary?.. Because nothing else sounds just as good as the one we've got lol

We really don't like Phoenix for a boy, seems like a girl name to us, sorry, just personal opinion. But thanks . I think We're sticking with Felix
