Hope you ladies don't mind me stopping in. I'm not really long term yet, but I've just been started on Letrozole this cycle. I had a few questions about it, but don't seem to be getting much response in TTC, so thought I'd check in here. My temp this cycle didn't really drop like it normally does (stayed about coverline until my second day of Letrozole, which was CD5!) and now it seems to be going up and down like my anovulatory cycle. Does Letrozole cause your temp to swing up and down or does it just look like I'm not going to O this cycle?

Sorry - don't know much about Letrazol... Any chance you're preg though? Weird that your temp never dropped is all.

I doubt it I had light bleeding one day, then medium, then pretty heavy for a day and then back to light. I also did a FRER the day AF was due, started bleeding the next, so I didn't test. When the doctor called in the Letrozole on CD4 I did a FRER first just to make sure since AF was lighter than normal and BFN.

I didn't have any more pregnancy tests now, so I used an OPK. I did one of the DT and one of the First Signal (Walmart- which I thought was a pregnancy when I bought it, but when I pulled it out wasn't :( ). They both have a line on them now at CD8. Wouldn't that be too early to have anything show up? I usually get no line at all until at least CD 10 or 11. Maybe I should try to get another pregnancy test tomorrow. Would the Letrozole make LH show up now?

Sorry hun, wish I knew more but I'm really not sure. I don't know if I'd read too much into the OPK, but it might be worth trying one more test just bc you wouldn't want to take anymore medication if you are preg. Doubt that u are though bc sounds like u covered your bases already. Also - maybe have a look at ff chart gallery to see how ppl's temps look when they're on letrazol.

Hi

I've always had a line on OPKs when taking letrozole or clomid. So I'm not too sure. As PP has said, I would definitely take a proper hpt just to make sure. You shouldn't take fertility drugs if you are already pregnant, and I'm not sure what that could do. I would probably guess the chances of pregnancy are slim, but it's best to be sure.

In terms of your temp going up and down, to me that would indicate that the letrozole hadn't made you ovulate, although it's a bit early to say definitively. This isn't to say that it won't this cycle or in other cycles. Are you being tracked this cycle, with a scan or anything? I would personally wait until then if you are, and perhaps mention it to your FS then. It might be that you haven't ovulated this cycle, and therefore they need to up your dose. Do you do OPKs as well? I would perhaps take them for this cycle, to see whether you get a positive. All of this info would help your FS to decide whether you need a higher dose on your next cycle.

Hope you get it all sorted hun. I'd be interested to know the outcome of this, so make sure you keep us posted!

I normally do O on my own. My temp never dropped like normal even though I think AF showed up. It only went below CL one day and then right back up. I doubt Letrozole would prevent O?

I can't imagine that you wouldn't ovulate with letrozole if you were already ovulating on your own. But I know that many people have said that letrozole delayed their ovulation quite a bit, in those who were taking it to strengthen ovulation. So maybe it's doing that? Either way, I would definitely show your FS your bbt tracking, and maybe try some OPKs to tell him when/if you get a positive.

Are you having a scan to see whether you have ovulated, or are you just taking the letrozole and seeing whether you get pregnant or not?

He's not doing a scan, but I am supposed to call for Progesterone levels on CD21. I'm getting O signs now (EWCM, something on OPK, etc.), but my temps just don't match at all. It would be very early for me to O (and I won't see DH until this weekend).

I did a DT test and it was BFN, so I went and got another FRER, again BFN. I did another OPK and it no longer has a line, so apparently my surge has already happened. I looked at some other Letrozole charts and they ALL looked like my normal cycle; not one of them had the ups and downs I've had and they all went down with a day or two of CD1. :( I'm really thinking it's anovulatory already just because it looks exactly like the ups and downs I got during my one cycle I was that I charted (during my MC). :(

That's frustrating. Maybe it just doesn't agree with you. You could still level out a bit later though who knows. Good luck hun. :hugs:

Is the letrozole disturbing your sleep at all ? It might account for the irregular temperatures

I ovulate on my own and when using letrozole I tend to ovulate a good few days earlier than normal x

I don't think so. My temps have been big swings up and down. I started out the month before taking it without a drop though, so maybe it's just not enough to fix it. :( I did get a bit of a drop this morning, but I'm still not very optimistic for this month.
