femara vs clomid

Who has been on both? I'm seeing a specialist on Monday and my gyno told me to expect to be put on femara, I have been on clomid I had one pregnancy on my second round that ended in MC... I did 4 rounds after that with no success, any suggestions or comments appreciated. Thanks

I don't have any advice as I have only been on Clomid. But I am interested in switching to femara. I would like to know of anyone else's experiences as well.

Hi, I've been on both. I did 11 cycles of Clomid, and didn't ovulate with any of them.. a few years later we tried Femara and it worked really well, but we added in injections of menopur to give my body a better chance at producing a better egg. Do you have any questions regarding either? I hated clomid, adored femara in terms of side effects.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think I really have any questions. I am just feeling so disappointed after getting DS on our first round of clomid we are now switching things up. I have this impending fear that it won't work. Although much of what I have read says it works better than clomid for PCOS.

I guess I do have one... Did you take a break between your clomid and femara cycle? I am currently in an annovulatory clomid cycle. I am debating if I want to do femara next cycle or wait one.

I had my first fertility appointment this week ... My doctor said they are pretty much the same just femara didn't have as many symptoms... He said that I would do femara with trigger shots and then iui... He said just taking femara wouldn't be enough... It would have been the same as being on clomid.... I am taking time off though BC clomid takes away the lining and makes implantation difficult

We waited years in between. I did clomid for 6 cycles and went off of it. 3 years later we tried 5 more cycles and nothing. 2 years after that is when we tried femara, then we added in the injections, then month 4 of femara, month 3 of femara plus injections and the first time trying IUI, we got pregnant. I to have PCOS, and its considered severe. But I was anovulatory for the months leading up to the femara and used provera to start my cycles again before taking the femara.

I am on clomid and doctor said she wants to give it 3 more cycles and if it doesn't work switch to femara. A friend of mine had horrible side effects from clomid so she switched to femara and she is almost 30 weeks pregnant now.
I think it all depends on the person and how they react to it.
