We had our scan today & everything was great until she measured its femur :( its measuring 2 weeks behind & we now have to go to the university college hospital in london on thursday to see a specialist.

Anyone have any advice or info? I'm scared to google any more :'(

Baby is just beautiful though, I'm 100% in love with the little monkey already xxx

I don't have advice but I don't hope that the measurements come out normal there.

I'm sorry, and I can't imagine what your going through. Is it just one or both? I hope you get more answers on Thursday.

Both femurs are 18+3, tummy is 19 & head 20 xxx

You are wise; Google is almost never the answer. It's great the specialist can see you so quickly. I'm certainly no expert, but the measurements don't sound wildly out of range from each other. I hope you get good, reassuring news on Thursday so you can stop worrying. Try to stay positive in the meantime (I know - easier said than done) since it's just a waste of energy to worry when you don't have all the information.

It might not be that bad. He/she might just be short if either of you or anyone in your family are short. This one had long legs by almost 2 weeks compared to the rest of her body, so we'll wait and see. I'm sure its nothing. I did find this thread though, which might help you, its old though, so I won't advise posting on it.

That sounds about what our LOs measurements were. I was a bit concerned but they didn't seem to worried about it?? She still has short legs at 6 months old lol, but just short, not abnormal.

Thanks for the replies. I hope when we go on thursday there's some growth so it shows its catching up.

They seemed concerned today which adds to my worry xx

mine is measuring a week behind and I am concerned too, what they told me is that it can be a marker for Down Syndrome , I had the measurements at 16 wks waiting to see if anything is different and what my doctor has to say, but I am very nervous too

No advice, per se, but with my son, his measurements varied as much as 3 weeks from one body part to the next. His head (slowest growth) was always 3 weeks behind his legs (largest growth). He turned out 100% healthy with no physical or developmental issues to date (thank God). You're only halfway there, so I'd think that Lo's legs have plenty of time to catch up? Hope you hear good news at the specialist :)

My nt result was 1:155 but the screening midwife said she was pleased with my results. I read too that its a soft marker for downs but I'm against having an amnio this early if they suggest it on thursday.

It seems the baby isn't measuring right on anything, abdomen was over a week behind too so not sure if ds would effect stomach too?!

All these questions & no answers is hard on us mummy's :( I'm feeling drained xxx

LO had a big head and short legs at 16 weeks and at 28 weeks and was still the same when born so if it doesn't change try not to worry too much. As long as they don't find anything else it might just be how he is. Babies are not all the same body shape, just like adults.
