Hi,

OH and I have been TTC for nearly a year now. We are both 25. We started TTC Sept last year and have had a couple of breaks where we weren't actively TTC but still not using contraception hence why my ticker only says I'm on my 10th cycle TTC as I only count the ones where we have actively TTC'd iykwim. I am looking to go to my drs tomorrow to get the ball rolling with fertility testing as it looks like AF is arriving once again and we have now been having unprotected BD for a year. I just want to know what I can expect with regards to fertility testing in the UK ie the process, the steps and roughly how long it all takes and waiting lists etc. I know it varies across the country but I'm looking for any tips, advice or information I can get as I'm very nervous about the whole thing. Also am open to any suggestions of any good reading material that may help me through this time as I love reading :)

I posted this here as I thought that more women here are likely to have been through the process than those who browse the other TTC boards. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks in advance.

My doctor wouldn't refer me until I'd been trying for at least 2 years, though I know a lot of places in the country only require 1. In the meanwhile my GP got me some bloods done - CD3, CD21 etc, a scan which confirmed PCOS, and 2 separate SAs (in a 6 month window) for OH. I only didn't need to have a HSG done because I had been pregnant within a couple of months of the FS appointment. :flower:

thanks that's really helpful. I wasn't sure what the GP did and what an FS would do. But even if they wont refer me to an FS for two years at least they could do bloods, SA and an HSG so at least I'd be making some progress :). I just feel a bit hopeless atm and just want to get SOMETHING done. I'm a bit of a control freak and I just feel right now like I want to take some control back iykwim . I'm sorry for your losses as I saw from your sig :hugs:

In my experience I had day 5 and day 21 tests done and oh had a sperm analysis. My blood tests showed I wasn't ovulating. I was then referred to the FS at the local hospital who gave me 4 rounds of clomid with scans and hcg jabs. After they didn't work I was offered a hog or lap, I opted for the lap and had an appointment for the results and discuss next steps. I think now at my hospital if everything is ok you get referred for ivf.
