Hi :hi:Just wondering if anybody has bought or thought about buying a fetal heart monitor? I am thinking about it as you can hear the heartbeat from 10 weeks and wondered if it would stop me worrying so much...Elle xx

:hi:

I have one & love it!!

The MW was concerned I bought one because of my history but it was because of my history that I bought one & have to say its my best buy through my pregnancy. It can worry some people though.

I got bubs HB around 10 weeks but not all girls will < leaving panic alone. Not only that I don't think finding it was too easy. One thing I can say is I always found it bottom right of my belly and I would put the doppler in one place and slowly move the doppler around at an angle in a cirlce < Hope that makes sense I told one of the other girls this and she found it too (forgot who now).

If your going to buy one I would get a proper probe doppler and not these that have earphones although I hear they are good you talking for use later on in pregnancy.

Another bit of advice is the digital display they can cause worry and did me every now & then. I spoke to MW about it again and she said if you were to get one that maybe to go with one without this feature is best too.

Hope that helps!

:D

Thanks so much for the info and advice I will certainly use it.....I can remember those long nights with my other 2 pregnancy's where you would give your right arm just to hear the heartbeat and know that its still beating!! Thanks again Elle xx :yipee:

Your welcome

It is a great thing to be able to do at home than waiting every handful of weeks and its good for your OH to hear too who maybe can't attned all yoru appointments.

:D

I have one and I love it. I was not able to find the heartbeat till just before 11 weeks. It takes some patience to find it, so don't freak if you can't. After finding it the first time, some days I would find it in a second, some days it took me forever.

I also agree with Wobbles about the digital readout. A lot of times, I can hear the heartbeat, but it does not register. Honestly, as long as I hear that little thump-thump, I don't care. It is sooo freaking awesome hearing it. I also love being able to let my parents hear the heartbeat. They get such a kick out of it. What is also cool is the baby's heartbeat now response to us when we talk to it. Last night the heart beat was sitting at around 150, and I started talking loudly, and it went up to about 160, then back down when I stopped. It does it anytime someone talks to my belly now.

I was the one who took Wobbles advice on where to find the heatbeat, it was waaaay lower than I expected it to be. It was just above my hair line and just to the right. Even now it is still only about an inch above the line.

Thanks you just give me the butterflies reading that I cant wait to hear it now......I am going to order it at the end of next week & then wait (not very) patiently till I am 10 weeks but thanks to you & Wobbles I wont get into a panic if I cant hear it straight away. Congrats on your pregnancy & I hope it is a healthy happy one!! :happydance: Elle xx

How far along are you now :D I ordered mine at about 8 weeks I think lol

Where in northern Ireland are you if you don't mind me being nosey I use to live there but could never understand all the **** over there lol

I really want a doppler too !!

Is it better to hire one or just buy one ?

Can anyone recommend where to buy/hire one from ?

I did have a nose at ebay and I saw a few of the Hi Bebe ones going for about £50 / £60 ish, they are used though, but in excellent condition, boxed and that.

I live in County Down......I am a bit confused regarding dates I got my BFP 15/11 I had been feeling tired sore boobs etc & my AF was 2 weeks late ( I have been unwell since July went from 9 stone to 7stone major pain when ovulating & during AF I was due to see consultant to get date for laparoscopy to confirm endometrious on 22nd) ANYWAY I got scan last tues there was nothing there bloods done last week showed rise in HCG but they had not doubled.............I am staying positive and thinking that I am 5 weeks 6 days go for scan Monday week (3/12) I have now done about 100 tests all BFP..........Sorry for my huge rant...

Hi Louisa, I am going to buy one as when I looked at renting it worked out more money....the one I am currently looking at is £114 but it will be worth it to be able to hear the little one is ok.........I am going to spend the next couple of weeks comparing prices online before ordering it.
