Has anyone got any experience of thrush with their LO. I though it was milk residue on her tongue and I feel really silly now because I thought she couldn't have it because I don't breast feed and she was born by Csection. The last 2 days she has been screaming when drinking her bottle (although this could be her tummy/reflux ) but the HV thinks her tongue has thrush on it and I have been given Nystan, which has made her vomit twice so far, no fun when you have fought hard to get her to eat! So just wondered has anyone elses little one had this? The health Visitor said it shouldn't hurt but I have been looking around online and it seems it can cause sore mouth, throat and tummy upsets. x

My lo had a bit of this at about 7 weeks. The medicine (same as yours) worked and it cleared up in a few days.

My lo has this and is on the meds you have been given but only just started them. I breastfed though but have recently stopped and have also got it on my nipples. Hoping the drops work for her. My hv said the same that it won't hurt her but u can't help but worry.

Do you think it has affected your babys feeding in any way? x

Hi hun my LO had oral thrush and he was bottlefed from birth, he had the med u have for ur LO but he had to have 2 lots as it wouldnt budge. It did effect his feeding, very much so, he would just play with the teat in his mouth and refuse the bottle, my hv said their mouths can be very sensitive with oral thrush xxxxxxxx hope ur LO feels better soon xxxxxxx

Thanks, it's hard to know if thats what is affecting her feeds with the relux and tummy problems she also has. She is having trouble with the nystan, she gags and brings up any food she has eaten when I give it to her. Do you know if there is a medicine in maybe a gel rather than the oral suspension, I might have a chance if I can rub it in her mouth rather than squirting it in and making her gag , I can't even give her infacol direct into her mouth these days she is so easy to make sick x

Thrush is more common in FF babies. Are you microwave sterilising? Because some health professionals reckon that the microwave sterilisers don't kill the thrush organisms effectively.

My LO had thrush, and we used a steam steriliser etc etc... We went through 2 courses of Nystatin with it doing precisely nothing. What cleared it up for us was Daktarin (on prescription), that got rid of it fast.

I steam sterilise, I didn't realise that about ff babies, I feel really bad that I didn't treat her sooner

my lo doesnt like the drops at all and spits most of them out, im not sure if its coincidence or not but my lo is a bit fussy at the moment when feeding but she has really bad tummy aches/wind that we have to use infacol for, which she also doesnt like the taste of!

My Lo used to love infacol, now it turns her stomach! I called the docs this morning and was prescribed daktorin (SP?) it is in a gel so hopefully I will have more success as Kitty was doing same as you LO, spitting most out and the bit she swallowed made her gag and get sick! Really hope this settles her feeding back down, hope your LO feels better soon x x

thanks hun, if things dont improve may have to ask for that for my lo aswell from the doctors. Youll have to let me know how you get on with it and if your lo takes it better than the drops. Hope they feel better soon x

My LO had thrush too, he was born by csection. 2 nurses and a breastfeeding consultants said it was thrush and my doctor did not pay attention. He finally prescriped Nystatin which the breastfeeding consultant said it doesn't always work.

Well we used the all bottle of Nystatin and the thrush did not clear. I went back to the doctor and he said it was milk, bull$*. Anyway, i came back to BnB and the ladies recomended i sterilise and sterilise everything over and over. I did that and within a week the thrush had cleared.
