My son is going to be 8 weeks on Wednesday and he is already about 13lbs. and fitting 3-6 months size clothes. He has been strictly formula fed since 2 weeks (before it was combi). He drinks all different amounts and usually still has 8 bottles a day.
For example, he'll have around 5oz, then go two hours and have another 4oz, then go one hour and have 3oz, then go four hours and have 6oz... etc etc. At night sometimes he is taking 7oz for at least two feedings but generally sleep/wait 4 or occasionally 5 hours at a time.
I feel like we're over-feeding him at times but the doctor isn't worried about his weight. He is quite long as well and doesn't *look* chubby at all, but I keep seeing other people posting how much their LO feeds at 7 weeks and how much they weigh... and I feel like I have a giant, lol.
The doctor said we can *try* to get him on somewhat of a schedule by trying to encourage him to go longer than an hour and a half or two hours (which he sometimes wants!) and aim for around 4 hours at this point, but 3 is fine too... yet he cries like we are starving him if I try to make him wait so we end up giving in because we're both worried he actually *is* hungry. OH is especially bad for "Oh, he's whining? Quick, feed him" lol. I on the other hand try everything else first to make sure its not a wet diaper/bored/over-tired/etc.
I know newborns shouldn't be on schedules anyway but I don't want him to end up as an obese baby either!! Is this all ok? Does anyone else have/had a baby this size? Lol
