Hi, I had an internal scan on New Years Eve and the outcome is that everything is fine but apparently I have a small fibroid. The gp said he wasn't concerned about it. He did say that they can prevent implantation and even prevent sperm from getting into the fallopian tubes. Have I to assume because he said he wasn't concerned that mine is too small to cause these problems? I have done nothing but think about it for days. We have been ttc for just over a year now and not a sniff of a BFP. I have also been found to have low progesterone levels at 7dpo so am wondering what is causing my infertility. We are being referred to a fs but it may be a while until we get seen and in the meantime I am slowly driving myself crazy wondering why it isn't happening for us this time.

Does anyone have any experience of fibroids?? Thanks x

hi i have fibroids, a few actually. largest one being about 2cm. This is ok
depending on where they are fibroids may or maynot affect fertility. mine are all outside of the uterus so it doesnt affect anything.
i would have thought if yours can affect implantation then its within the uterus.

You need to get refered to a gynae who will tell you what the sitaution is. this is what i did and i ended up ahving a lap and finding out i had endo.

On the other hand they are slow growing so he may be right in saying what he has. Y
Maybe speak to him about why you have not pg yet?

good luck

A have 1 fibroid 6cm and apparently it isn't a problem.
It really depends where it is as to what it affects.
Mine is in the wall and so my womb is mis shapen coz of it but the gyny isn't bothered about it - more concerned with my other probelms.

I just had a small polyp removed from my uterus last month. When they were preparing me for my first IUI in November (HSG/follicular sonograms), they saw a polyp that they were somewhat concerned with. They told me about it the day my husband and I were in for the IUI. She said that since we were all set up for the IUI that day, they would do it, but if I didn't get pregnant that month, they would want to remove it. So I didn't get pregnant and had it removed in December. They did a D&C, which was my first ever surgery! Oh, and they wouldn't do the IUI that cycle, which was quite hard for me to deal with at the time, but now I'm glad that we're back on track. I just had my 2nd IUI yesterday. The doctors said that the polyp could prevent implantation, but that if I got pregnant with the polyp, it shouldn't affect the pregnancy. So I've got my fingers crossed that having it removed also removed all the obstacles that prevented a pregnancy in the past! Good luck!

I didn't ask how "small" it was or where it was situated but will do next time I am at the doctors. It will forever bug me wondering if it is preventing implantation, but tbh I think my low progesterone is the main contender in my infertility. Roll on fs appointment!!

Good Luck with the IUI hopesforababy xxxx

GP has told me my fibroid is 17mm and is on the anterior wall of my uterus. Apparently it poses no threat to my fertility.

I understand how you feel. I had 3 Uterine fibroids and they were found 11/06 after a BFP my stomach was huge...My gyno thought multiples....No Just One baby and three fibroids....Its possible...Baby Dust To All !

I just had a huge firbroid and 3 small ones removed, along with endo. It was the endo causing the issues more than the fibroid BUT it made me look 3 months preggy and caused pain as it pushed on my bladder. Maybe get the FS to check it out.......
