Hi, I have a submucosal fibroid about 2cm big bulging into my uterus. I also have cysts on my ovaries but I do ovulate on myown. My dr put me on 3 cycles of clomid just to see if i could be pregnant on it. Well I am about to start my 3rd cycle and nothing so far....so my dr said maybe if the clomid does not work that I should get the fibroid taken out. This is a pretty evasive surgery....it entails opening my abdomen, cutting open my uterus, and removing the fibroid. Once I have this surgery, and I do manage to get pregnant, I will have to have a c-section. Thing is I hear of so many women getting pregnant with fibroids, I almost feel like there must be somethign else wrong...but I have been trying for 11 months now and i am still not pregnant.

Well now I am asking...does anyone have any experience with this that they can share?

Sorry I havent honey, just wanted to give you a :hugs: and hope someone on here can help put you at ease!

There are loads of success stories with fibroids so don't worry. Also they can normally remove them through the vagina during a hysteroscopy or via key-hole/ laparoscopy rather than cutting you open!

thanks for responsing tansey....I had hysterscopy done and it grew back. The problem is this fibroid goes all the way through my uterus from the inside out. So they cannot get the entire thing without an abdomindal myomectomy. My friend whom is pg with many many fibroids asked me today if I have endo...I have never been tested for it but I dont think Ihave any symptoms either. She said I should look into whether I have it. So now, I guess that is something else to worry about.

tansey - I just read your siggy...did you have your fibroid removed? How big was it? Where was it located? What kind of surgery did they do for it? Also, how about the endo, how did you know you had it?

I have an intramural fibroid 6cm. I have had 2 MCs and coz of my age they decided to investigate the fibroid and possible reasons for MCs. My fibroid is not a problem where it is and so it remains :)
I have no symptoms of endo but have moderate endo on my ligaments and pouch of douglas found during the hysteroscopy/lap I had. They also found chronic infection of the womb (possibly caused by the 1st MC) and polyps and so the scraped them all away and gave me strong antibiotics. THey also found that my left tube was blocked.
So now I am in te middle of IVF as tey recently found that my DH has sperm antibodies - so together we are not very successful :dohh:
So there can be lots of reasons and you should have investigations before you go in for major surgery :hugs:

very true....thank you for the information. I will check out the endo. and go from there.

Good luck!
Also bear inmind that an average couple can take up to 2years to conceive - I did it on cycle 16 (not a happy outcome though) and funnily enough I noticed lots of others on cycle 16! :dust:

hmmm really.....well, I am on my last cycle of clomid, 11 months trying, before I go for more testing...heres to hoping I get pg next month. If not, then over to the states for some testing.
