Hi all. I guess I'm moving over here from the TTC forums, as I finally at least am moving in the right direction as to what's wrong and have a tentative diagnosis of PCOS. DH and I have been TTC No. 1 starting in February 2008, but that only equates to 9 1/2 cycles since my periods are crazy and irregular. I'm now on CD 4 of what I think is cycle 10, but I can never be quite sure because I randomly bleed for a few days, then stop, then start, etc, so who knows! Drs. have been looking for what's wrong since October 2008 and every test has come back normal, had an ultrasound where they didn't see anything, etc. They had ruled out PCOS because I'm not overweight and have never had problems staying thin, but finally reconsidered because I do have other symptoms such as acne and facial hair growth. My doctor finally did the bloodwork for it yesterday and called me with the results today that they were "consistent with PCOS..."

Well that's a longer post than I intended, but I just wanted to tell someone... Any ladies out there have any advice for me? Where do I go from here? I have my next appointment on March 10--what should I expect?

Hi,

I have PCOS so think I give you a few words of wisedom.

There are a few options here. The first is a drug called metformin that you take daily that can help some ladies regulate thier periods. If you google it, i'm sure you'd find lots of info on it.

the other thing that they might do (and I dont know this for sure) but is to test to see if you're ovulating every month. if they did this, then they would test your hormones including progesterone on day 3 of your cycle and then again 7 days before your period is due (they'll take averages of your last 12 periods or something and have a guess at when the right day for the test should be).

Based on these results they can see if you've ovulated or not. just because you might get results sayign you didnt ovulate one month, doesnt mean you dont ovulate at all.

If you didnt, then they can look into drugs such as clomid to help stimulate ovulation.

Please let me put a disclaimer with the above informaiton, this is what my experiences are of PCOS so yours may be different depending on how servere yours is and what course of action your Dr wants to take.

Hope thats helpful and good luck

Hey chica, welcome over to this section :hugs:

I also have PCOS, and I'm also thin. The only signs I have are no periods, spots, and hair growth. Oh how I love my tweezers! <3 You certainly aren't alone!

As for where you go from here, It's going to be a bit of a trial and error to start with as every woman with PCOS is different to the next. They will probably put you on Metformin and Clomid to start you off, keep an eye on your cycles to see if the follicles are growing. I was also put on Progesterone to make me bleed.

Best of luck to you x
