So I've been piecing together my family tree and one of my great aunts name was Leah. What do you think of that? It was also my mom's favorite aunt so she liked that.

I was thinking Leah Ione (Ione for DH's great grandmother).

Very pretty :). I really like how Leah and Ione sound together.

I like it! But I need to ask if I'm pronouncing lone correctly. I'm thinking just like the word, so as 'the lone ranger'

It's actually eye-own :). Apparently it's greek though DH's great grandmother was not lol.

Ah, I was pronouncing it like eye-own-ee, that's the only way I've heard it pronounced. I like the pronounciation eye-own too though :)

I like the name Leah, simple & pretty! Feminine too! I have the name Aaliyah (Aleah) on my list!

Thanks ladies! Guess I should ask DH about it lol. Typically Ione is pronounced eye-own-ee but for some reason she pronounced it eye-own.

Aaliyah is pretty too :D

I really like it! I have a teenage nice called Leah and its such a pretty tinkly name.

As a side note, didn't realise Aaliyah was pronounced that way, I always say it differently in my head. I always said it like the 'alia' part of Natalia. Not 'uh-leah'. More like AAAH-le-AAAH.

ive heard it both ways, guess its about the spelling and personal preference.

uh-le-yah
a-le-yah
ah-le-yah

Hudson, do you like "le-un-na" spelled to your preference. Just thought it was in your flavor. My friends daughter is that, she spells it Leanna

Oh yeah I've always pronounced it uh-lee-yah.

babifever - we want to stick with Ione for DH's great grandmother. It's been important to him so I'll give him that.

Don't mind Leah. Its my sisters name. (She's a little crazy lol)
