Finally made a list

I still have to make my list and give it to my parents. They are going to be getting most of the items, only because we are planning on doing a lot of things second hand with this baby, and they have more time to go to yard sales on the weekend (I work last on friday and work saturday and hardly any place around here will have their yard sale through sunday).

OH wants to start getting a few things and putting them on layaway, but only problem is the only place in town to buy things at is Walmart and it's my understanding they only have layaway around Christmas and that's it.

Have you looked into consignment shops too? I know of one that's an hour away from my home but it's near an aunts house and she shopped there for her kids so I plan to make the trip out there to see what they have.

It sucks that layaways are done only around Christmas and I know of some stores that do it for school opening season. As a PP suggested perhaps consignment stores might be an option if you and your partner have no objections to pre-owned items.

I plan to look at a the thrift stores around here, but they are few and far between (I live in a small town of only about 12,000). I could go to the few places that are in the city I work in, but again I work long and weird hours and most places are closed by the time I would be able to go, and don't have enough time on lunch to get across town, look/buy, eat and get back to work. Plus most of those places are for clothes mostly (which I actually plan on getting alot of the clothes second hand like that). Maybe next week when I'm down at my parents I can actually hit up the consignment shops there that have kids/baby items. There isn't any place around here or at least it's not advertised like it is in my hometown.

Good luck with your hunt! We have to seriously hunker down and start on that registry soon, if we don't want to be hit with a really large bill at the end of the pregnancy for rushing things.

I agree babys can be expensive when you add everything together luckily were expecting our second boy and I kept absolutely everything of ds1 from clothing to baby baths, toys, bouncers ect.. So we will just be reusing it all again the only thing we need to buy is a new pram & car seat and they aren't cheap either :dohh: I found with my first pregnancy I bought bits and bobs every week it didn't feel so expensive then when you spread it out and makes the weeks fly by :)
