The birth of Finley Evan.

On monday the 14th of May i went in hospital to be induced at 38+1 due to diabetes,
At 11am i was given the prostaglandin gel, and monitored for 30 minutes, then was able to walk around, by 8pm i wasn't in labour so O/h got sent home. At 10pm i was given a second dose, i started contracting every 3 minutes, they were uncomfortable but not too bad so i got on my ball for a while. At 5am i couldn't sleep so i got in bed and the contractions went! :coffee:
At 6am i was 3cm dilated.
O/h came back up at 9am tuesday morning, contractions were irregular, by 4pm i had really had enough of the heat on the ward, i was checked and was 1cm dilated! Getting nowhere...
I was told we would be given a delivery room soon so they could break my waters so o/h stayed a while, by 8pm they said he should go home, i told them i was going with him if we weren't getting a room, so i had to sign a consent form thing.
We went back home, i had a shower and slept, at 10am wednesday we went back up the hospital.
2pm we were called to delivery suite!! :happydance:

They hooked me on an insulin sliding scale due to me having diabetes, it took the Midwife 3 attempst then she got the anaesthetist as she kept popping my veins lol. 3pm my waters were broken, no contractions so at 5pm i was started on oxytocin drip.
6pm they came on thick and fast!! I asked for an epidural but the anaesthetist was in theatre..
Gas and air was ok at first but by 7:30pm i was in agony the contractions were on top of each other and i couldn't move off the bed with my insulin drip.
7:40 i was shouting he's coming out i can feel him!!! they said they would see if the anaesthetist is available for my epidural, i shouted no i'm gonna crap on the bed i can feel him he's coming out!
She agreed to check and yep! i was 10cm and his head was there :haha:
I pushed and at 8:10pm Finley was born weighing 7lb 1oz :happydance:

O/h cut his cord and me & Finley had skin to skin, he breastfed for 90minutes lol, his sugar levels were 3.4 which they said was good if he can keep it up :happydance:

11pm we were moved to the ward, his sugars were checked every 3 hours and they were good, he fed on demand, didn't sleep in his little tank at all just on me, i stayed awake so relieved he was ok.
~
Thursday we came home at 8pm
:happydance: :happydance:
