Hi all,

I figured I better come on over to the LTTTC forums as I'm approaching the 2 year mark. :dohh:

I have been feeling very distanced from TTC for about 6 months now and I feel both me and OH have been losing interest, due to stress from it all. Any way I decided that we should just go to the doctor anyway as there is clearly something not quite right. So today I had my day 21 (or 23 in my case) tests for progesterone , LH, thyroid etc. and get my results in about a week.

Basically the reason for this post is: I have been tracking ovulation and temp for a long time and things seem fine from that area, so my main concern is the abdominal surgery which I had 2 years back. This was to remove scar adhesions, which I now think may be the cause of my infertility. So what I'm asking is for those of you who have undergone all tests and things; how long do you think it will be before they do some sort of test to find out whether I am right? What comes after these initial tests? I don't want to be waiting around while they do pointless tests if the main reason is due to my surgery?

I am 22 and healthy otherwise, as is OH and his sperm count/mobility is all normal :)

Other than that, just a big hello and I would love if anyone in the same boat wants to have a chat :) I was in a group thread before and although I love all the ladies in it they have all gotten their BFPS (well deservedly) but I can't relate anymore, so I'd really just like a new support network :) xx

Hi there! Similar situation over here, although I am about 10 years old than you. :) Approaching the 2 year mark in October here, first RE appointment in 2 weeks.

I, like you, have regular periods, confirmed ovulation (OPK's, temping), hubby's tests came back fine as well. I have thyroid disease which is now controlled but thats the only thing I know of that may be affecting our chances.

I would love to buddy up with you to go through this process. I haven't told many people (only mom, sister, best friend) that we are TTC so I dont have a large support group to talk to at home. Plus its awkward to talk to them about it for some reason.

Anyway, would love a buddy to go through this process with.

Heyy Runner! I feel that no matter what age you are experiencing fertility issues its still an awful situation to be in... My first meeting with a nurse over a year ago didnt go well as she completely judged me on my age, telling me to just wait because I was young. GRRRR. But the last couple of appointments have been fine :).

Have they said previously that your thyroid problems will affect TTC? Did you have any symptoms of that or was it a surprise to you? Sorry if you don't want to discuss it!

But yeah, I'd love to have a buddy to talk to, I haven't actually told anyone that we are TTC but I have discussed with my best friend that we might have problems having a baby. I just feel it is easier, especially when I constantly get hints from my family about when we are going to have a baby or rude comments about it. It would be worse if I had to then explain why they were rediculously out of place!

I didnt even realize that I had a thyroid problem until last October when I went in for our year appointment to discuss next steps. She felt my throat for a goiter and said that she wanted to send me for an ultrasound to get things checked out. They then ran some blood work and when I got my results back it showed I was hyperthyroid.

I should have known something was wrong because we went through some very very high stress with selling our house, searching for a temporary place to live and also finding storage for our things all in 3 weeks. I had trembling hands and heart palpitations, thought it was all due to drinking coffee (which I only had a cup a day!) so I cut that out of my diet and still felt awful. I had so many symptoms but didnt know anything about thyroid issues so was oblivious.

So when they tested me and the results came back I was told that it could be interfering with me being able to get pregnant. If you do the research on the topic it will explain all the many reasons why. The main problem with me is the graves disease which will put me at high risk if I do get pregnant.
So anyway, thats my story.

There have been hints about us having a baby from his parents side of the family but we have ways to change the topic usually. I wish we could tell them but his Mom is the type of person who would tell everyone so I am not sure I want everyone up in our business about it.

I really hope the appointment with the RE goes well, we have it in 2.5 weeks. I just would like to be able to narrow things down. But I do know going into this that usually its just unexplained, which will be even more frustrating.

Good to hear back from you! Keep me posted on things please!

Hi runner! Sorry its taken me a while to get back! Sorry to hear about all your thyroid problems :( Although atleast you have an idea of whats going on to make you feel those ways.

So I got my results back from the bloods and everything came back normal. The receptionist never really gave me any detailed description but I guess if everythings normal then either I have a much more serious issue going on, or its unexplained. GAH. I am going to make another appointment to discus things.

Your appointment must be coming up next week right? Are you nervous or just want to get things going? :) Hope your doing well!

I'm nervous, excited, scared. Just wish it were here already so I could have a plan of attack. You would think I would be used to waiting by now, but totally not.

Im having my 21 day bloods tomorrow!!

How long did you results take to come back?? :)

I also had the issue with being judged based on age. I started TTC at 18, and after a year, went to see a doctor, was told I was young and too young to be having a baby. Changed doctors and heard the same thing, was told I had plenty of time , go on birth control etc. Now 6 years in, I'm still childless.
